Less demanding than other sports, hence more easily replaced... I feel like I'm going round in circles. It's kind of known that a running back has a window of about 8 years for a career due to all the beating they take. There's my proof...
As for the last part, when it's as close as it is already, and they are already making shedloads, then yes!!
OR - the amount that they are both apart they should agree to put into the communities - help those affected by the depression/natural disasters etc etc. It could do so much more than line the pockets of the already sickeningly-rich (owners AND/OR players)
Less demanding than other sports? I'm not saying Basketball is the MOST demanding, but running up and down a huge court over and over, playing offense and defense you have to be pretty damned fit amongst everything else that is going on. Baseball? That's more demanding? Stand around for most of the game.... pretty demanding.
As for the last part.... still don't agree with you sorry. Plus I'm sure you know that many many players give a lot to charities already and many have their own foundations.
The thing is, it's the owners who forked out the several-hundred million bucks for the team in the first place, so they should be entitled to the majority as a return on their 'investment'. Players are employees and contributed nothing to the purchase - though they are the drawcards to the performance...
No... what I'm saying is that it takes less specific skill/toughness to play basketball so the players should appreciate what they have and just get on with it... because they would be more easy to replace if they weren't willing to, than the other players of major sports...
The post ljandkg posted summed it up in the nfl one player throws the ball on player catches it one polayer runs with it **** if your a fat person you can play the game and block someone the NBA is the most athletic of the american sports and a player needs to know how to play defence / offence they need to know how to pass / shoot / block / steal one of those lack they probably wont last long you name one other sport where you MUST know all fundementals of the game to survive none of the 3 you mention hairy
You're an idiot mate.
Maybe not well put but its not that stupid a comment. I think an NBA player could make the transition to the NFL however i could not see an NFL player ever being able to make the transition to play NBA.
Think about LeBron. Based on his size, height and his hands he could probably make a transition to a wide receiver or tight end pretty easy.
I don't know Nate's college football talents but he certainly has what it takes to make it, he has the speed and is strong. There is a Youtube clip of a receiver jumping up and grabbing a 12 foot high pipe. There would be a few players in the NBA.
Lebron might be able to make it as a Offensive Tackle somewhere, but he would need to bulk up about 30 kg of muscle.
all i can say is now it has become a huge ego fest and basically everyone involved has their chests pumped out and doesnt want to be seen as "caving in" or "weak" so they will continue sitting around having a ****, and eventually the players will cave in so they can get their $$$$, billy hunter says otherwise and that they will never give in, but really the owners have the upper hand...i agree with hairy and think the players are greedy ****ers...when it is all said and done the ones who suffer most are the fans, lets face it if you are like me you have an obsession with basketball and basically feel like a kid in the candy store when the season nears and finally arrives, then these ****ers have to spoil it for everyone else, used to like derek fisher, not anymore....find it funny too that the biggest ****er in the nba (paul pierce) has been involved of late in these talks, here is a thought, maybe he could pull a lakers/celtics finals drama and go off at a break injured and on a stretcher and come back the hero to force the players to slay the "horrible and beastely nba and owners" that pay them peanuts...
I guess this is what you do while your on strike.
LeBron James to attend first Liverpool match Saturday against Manchester United - ESPN
Does anyone really believe that LBJ even knows what soccer is??
