Beckett's top 23 MJ cards of all time!

=D> but when will the 84 star be regarded as his true rookie:(,i have recently purchased one of those cards, i dont know which one it is but its very nice
i will post a pic

Thats a Card is from Jordan's 85-86 star co set. It doesn't count as a common card as its from a sealed bag all Jordan. These are popping up more often now so my suspicions about these grows just like those that wont touch the Jordan XTC anymore as well.

Is there no way of telling the difference between an original 84 card and a 90's reprint ? I guess not if the original plates were reused.

well beckett claim they have an "expert" what that really mean? it is so open ended to interpretation. To me it is a marketting thing to get some money out of people as some unknown companies started grading them, they figured they get in on the action.

unless they used different ink types or if the ink is physically scratching off to test, I doubt there is a way to tell as original plates were used.

I can't believe the baseball one is in there

I've got the Sam Vincent lol. I reckon the 93 94 Skylights shoulda been in there, that's an amazing looking card. I want a PSA/BGS 10 of it lol.

wouldn't the age of the ink be a give away? surely one would be much brighter than the other?

well depends hwo the card was stored.

I could leave this years card out in the sun and it will fade.

if stored away in a dark place in the bag, they would be almost identical colour.

I guess i have one-----

Thanks for updating the thread Nick! Looks like we got some sweet mj's on the site!

I bet there's more lurking around here too, lets see if we can get all 23 covered by members

Oh i came across the one in #2 spot the other day if you have a spare $12K to spend :woot:

No. 3 on Becketts list actually looks like this:
1996SPXAutoNNO.jpg

Nevertheless, personally i would prefer the 1997 SPX Promotion AU /100 (the one currently pictured at No. 3) all day. Looks nicer, has the COA directly on the card and is tougher to forge.

No. 1 on Becketts list would not make it into my personal Top 23. Historically it may be, but from a collectors point of view as of today... no way. Too many counterfeits, not MJs true RC year, tens of thousands of cards produced and thus available at any time, even in NR-MT condition.
So, No. 2 belongs to No. 1 and where is the 97-98 PMG Green /10 ?

Nice list, anyway as the author obviously provided a thoughtful list.

Thanks for the info Dave i wasn't too sure if the Promotion was the one on their list or not but figued it was as Beckett doesn't list the one you posted on their website for some reason that i could see.

Maybe i'll make a poll thread for a collectors MJ top 23 cards of all time to see what everyone else thinks are the best of his as i agree with you there are some MJ's not on Becketts list that IMO should be :v:
