The Official 2017 TLA Elite NRL Thread (Sell Sheet Page 10, 1/1 Preview Page 17)

I always buy a few boxes because busting them and either getting a hit you want or giving you something to trade are my favorite aspects of the hobby.
Totally agree, however people want to buy and not trade, as they don't have anything I need or they need. It's a catch twenty two. So I go the trade or buy, so I am able to buy the stuff I need now (unfortunately)

Agree with everything said not that i justify the price of a box but elite is $$ and having recieved a dud box it hurts but also seeing the value of some cards Plumet so fast is also concerning. its not like they are horrible cards this year either.

I have tried to trade this year buy as you guys say most want to buy/sell, which I have ended up getting dragged into to get what Im wanting to collect

I don't think you can target people who hit the good boxes... thats the hobby?? I like the razzs and trades its great.

Been a better year with the hits coming out more often than not also.

If you get a dud box... thats just unlucky. It has to happen if people are going to get the rarer mojos ect.

That being said I was lucky enough to hit an emerald in a razz and get a wicked trade gor it too..

It's not about targeting people, the hobby is all about luck but the big hits should be separated, not in the same box. This also opens up case searching, jag the big box early and dump the rest.

I don't mind case breaks, razzes etc either but this has a significant impact on the prices due to the volume which hits the secondary market.

Thats a supply problem not the people buying boxes. I know diggaz is great at distributing cases which are definitely not searched ect. A member cant be at fault for that... maybe ebay power sellers.

Agreed, it is absolutely a packaging fault, no idea where the targeting individuals came from. Most of the distributors are very honest, to a fault in fact, but there are obviously some shady bits going on. Again I can't see in previous comments how the individual was perceived to be the issue.

I have to say I wouldn't buy boxes of ebay as I have never got anything but the lowest odd hits they are obviously
searched which is a shame I gave them another chance this year and still the same.
I know they need to recoup there investment but it takes the fun out of busting.
No wonder most people just buy what they need.
however I highly recommend diggaz and redtorana on here they are excellent to buy from.

I I agree with the eBay power sellers.. before the release the mojo were cheap and the 'accidental' early release has hurt also.
I think ESP needs to put an limit on how many cases are bought or something, or stuff being put on eBay for cheap. As imho it's killing the market for traders and the value of set in general.
Though with the dud packet in a box, I have the feeling it was meant for another hit in box ..

Should not be any dud's at $7.99 a pack! With prices already so low, the only way anyone is covering the cost of the box is if they hit the hot box (mojo and jersey) even the sig cards are already $60 - $70 each. It's rediculous.
IMO the value set this year was Xtreme. $2.99 a pack, chance of a signature card and packet redemptions. Even if you missed a signature in your box / packs, you could send away for one with wrappers. Made getting a master set obtainable without mortgaging the house.

When approaching someone like Panini (NBA, NFL etc licence holder) the very first question you're asked is....Do you eBay? If so, provide Ebay username. I don't believe they're too interested in that sort of model and their business.

Correct, I know of one overseas re-seller who deals direct with Panini and they inadvertently had a single Panini box up for sale on ebay.....and they quickly were told pull the auction or risk losing your access to product.

They are very vigilant about people dumping product and setting the low mark on pricing.

You are quite correct, ESP prices in general don't seem to hold value but particularly Elite. Aside from the jersey patch signatures I don't think I have seen an Elite League Sensation or Young Gun start at $200-$300 (maybe Cam Smith from 2014 was the exception and a hoarder was involved).

It is really sad to see because some the signature cards look great with excellent choices as the signers. The huge amount of stock busted by Day Trader and a couple of other big sellers is certainly a contributing factor as is the lack of master collectors still in the game. This leaves so many more cards on the secondary market for longer.

The other equally disappointing aspect is your average collector bust boxes with no intention of holding anything and then flip the cards onto the secondary market for nothing or drop them in razzes. The trading aspect of the hobby is suffering significantly because of this, lots of collectors seem to be in the game to make their money back or if they are lucky a profit.

The collation of inserts is better this year, hardly seems to have been a dud box but putting a Mojo and redemption in the same box is nuts! No way should there be two high end hits like that in one box, really makes buying boxes risky. A collector should never expect to make money from a box, that is a dealers job!

Those guys are just reacting to the market in some ways. Opinions carry a lot of weight and smaller buyers like some of us here on OCT who just dump the product for what we can get or offer opinions that mojo sets aren't going to be worth more than a certain amount are to blame also.

That's interesting. I do like that idea, could it work with here with our current great dealers without affecting them ? (IMHO @Diggaz TC does a great job at promoting and selling for product and always great person to talk to about products)

This set had the looks of a great product and still does. Though I have the feeling that the dud pack could of been used for another inset or something. Or maybe go back to the day where parellel in each pack with an inset / hit with them
I agree with Wookiee, the extreme set was value for money and looked top notch.

I also thought the Extreme Set was value for money & quite cheap to complete a Master Set of for less than $1000.00

But when you talk to the dealers they hated it & said it sold less this year compared to last year.. I put this down to most collectors bought all boxes & packets themselves to redeem the signatures with the wrappers & didn't need to buy any inserts off the re-sellers.

In my opinion 2017 Extreme was the most collector friendly set released by any Australian card company. It was priced well ($2.99 per pack), the signatures were all 1st grade players and every collector was a chance to get the high end inserts / signature (both odds and price helped this).

Well done ESP!
