The Official 2017 TLA Elite NRL Thread (Sell Sheet Page 10, 1/1 Preview Page 17)

Update from TLA:

‘It is with regret that there are some error cards in the 2017 NRL Elite Trading Cards Collection. Unfortunately, even though all of our cards go through strict and thorough approval processes and checks via the NRL, RLPA and at TLA, these unavoidable errors can still occur. As a result, TLA will be re-printing all of the affected cards, giving collectors the opportunity to surrender their error cards in exchange for the re-printed versions.

Please see below the list of cards being re-printed:

- Kalyn Ponga – Young Gun Signature (YG 9/16)
- Johnathan Thurston – 2002 Crystal Collection (CC16)
- Josh Starling – Silver Special (SS 079) and Sapphire Mojo (MS 071)

Please note that the re-printed cards will be available to be claimed up until the release of the 2018 Elite Collection, giving collectors 1 year to send in their error cards for exchange.

They can be sent to:

Suite 1.01-1.03

22-36 Mountain St

Ultimo NSW 2007

TLA will advise when the cards are available to be sent out

Cheers

The players might want to think again who they have got working for them at the RLPA ???.If they missed the highest profile player in Thurston as Big Roy then what else are they missing lol.

Lol you blame the RLPA? Is that you Todd? How about the company that makes the product? These questions are all rhetorical btw.

I mean they said the product passes through the RLPA for checks as well as the NRL and TLA. Surely the guys who definitely know footy would catch it.

Some of these errors seem like genuine mistakes, but I feel like there's an issue if the card designer doesn't realise that the player he's making a card of looks nothing like the player they're supposed to be, whether that's staff that don't know their work or low quality control at some stage along the line

Hahaha nah not Todd . Not that it's the end of the world anyway but the people involved in physically making them(in the factory and Q/C )probably wouldn't know the difference between nrl and afl . In regards to the Thurston, I'm tipping deliberate mistake . Best form of advertising as it gets people talking about their product and they will replace them if you want anyway so happy days hahaha

Sometimes the images themselves in places like Getty etc get tagged with the wrong player name and then selected and used on cards.

I know of another sport with 2 similar looking players and one was tagged in a number of photos with the other players name. On first glance you couldn't really tell the difference but after some checking the photo was swapped for the correct player.

The usual process is the cards get designed using images from the NRL preferred photo partner, the clubs review them, the league reviews them and then if approved they go to print.

Id agree that all of the people in this process would have to share the blame on some of these.

In saying this, it helps having people who know the sport well producing the cards.....this isn't always the case.

Call me crazy but this comment referring to "unavoidable errors" is complete BSh^t.

These types of so called UNAVOIDABLE errors we are seeing are completely avoidable with STRICT AND THOROUGH PROCESSES in place. I believe it is called in some businesses quality control. You've got pictures of players in Holden Cup Jerseys for gods sake, just man up, apologise, admit you took short cuts to maximise profits and take responsibility for the lack of quality control rather than point fingers at everyone else.
