And BAM is exactly what any player should expect in a CONTACT FUKEN SPORT................ FUK THIS THREAD!!! lol

edit : im actually just pissed cause I just got all the way to work and forgot I had an RDO and had to come all the way home at 10.20pm...waste of a night!

the afl is turning into something crazy.. i dont get how a deliberate trip (dustin fletcher style) warrants a suspension, should be just a free kick, but crap like headland (swinging punches, oh cos i misheard him) gets nothing, yet a small bump warrants a 1 game suspension, or a mis knee to the head.. in my opinion, the only thing that warrants a suspension is a strike (accident or not, even if he misheard).. wrestling or tripping should not be a suspension, but perhaps a free kick against or something else.. quite ridiculous, im still spewing fletcher got suspended in 2003 about a shitty trip..hadyn got the free kick, penalise him on the field, not off.. tribunal has always been a joke, but it's turning into something else, and the game is suffering because of it..

i mean the whole taking someone to court thing, greg williams style to hold off a suspension, or that turd that gave hird his stitches in 1996 prelim final (dunkley or saddington, cant remember??) yet he could play the grand final and be suspended the first game of the following season, yet rocca (as much as i hate the prick) got rubbed out also and had to sit out.. what's the go? show some balls, or show nothing at all..

For the first time since I joined these boards I agree with white chocolate....

I know & understand what you are saying but
1. Your biased (Collingwood supporter lol)
2. The rule is there and he broke it
3. He got 1 week which I predicted :)

So no one says anything about the Melbourne supporter that is crying out here too? Collingwood supporter or not, Shoes is right. That was a terrible suspension for a game that is quickly going down the hill cause of fears for injury in a CONTACT sport. I understand that these guys are being paid ****loads to play it and it's better to have them on the field but seriously, they're no longer allowed to bump, you can;t touch a guys back, what's next, no tackling to the ground?
Had Leigh Matthews and Lockett and the like played now, they'd have not played more than 50 games, pure and simple.

So you have forgotten that a deliberate trip 'Dustin Fletcher style' used to get what it fully deserved? A free kick, a 50 and an instant report followed by minimum 2 week suspension? Tripping is worse that turning around and punching someone because the damage you can do to their legs is irreversible.

If Dempster was taller (or even standing straight up---he's not fulling standing when hit) or Rocca smaller, it would be fine... Why suspend him, cause he's bigger than the other guy???

Liek Shoes said... Its a contact sport and he should be expecting contact... Dempster takes 2 steps forward, yet is still looking at the ground.... If he had some awareness and was looking forward, he could have braced for the contact....

Ill second that. Regardless of what team they play for that suspension is a joke!

The fact is he made contact with his head, I have no probs with the BIG bumps but not to someones head - FULLSTOP

I do agree with the in the back thing......its got ridiculous ! The free should only be paid if it is a deliberate push out !

Anyways Rocca got 1 week and I think that was about right, no amount of whinging or whining by Collingwood or non Collingwood supporters is going to change that :)

After seeing that footage again on The Couch.... I agree with the suspension. The onus is on the playe rmaking the tackle/bump to look after the opponent.... it was VERY clear Dempster had no idea Rocca was coming, and he was stumbling the whole time, Rocca COULD have pulled up or out... he didn't take the duty of care.

I agree, you make contact with the head, end of story, and the argument about Rocca being taller is ridiculous
