Symonds Sent Home Again!!

You beat me to it Dan!

Unbelievable. No player in recent memory has bent the rules and been forgiven more than him, and in all honesty he should never have been recalled on form alone.

Looks like the selectors have been vindicated completely for leaving him out of the Ashes squad!

My sources (print media) have told me that unless you are in his full inner sanctum he is a very ordinary bloke who gives very little of himself and seems to have a permanent chip on his shoulder. In his great maiden Test century at the MCG he raised his bat to the players box and completely snubbed the crowd who paid their money at the gate and cheered him on to three figures. Poor form.

I'm certainly not feeling sorry for him - enough is enough and it's out to pasture you go Symo. And if you hear a wooshing sound - that's your international career passing you by......and you only have yourself to blame! Add to that the greatest highest-paid flop in the history of Twenty20 cricket and he probably didn't deserve to be there in the first place!

This bloke has got to be onest of the biggest and most reknowned stories of taking talent and such for granted.

Symo is crickets answer to Ben Cousins! Always in the news for wrong reasons.

Why can't he just pull his head. He could be remembered as a handy bowler, excellent fielder and explosive batsman. Instead when the name Andrew Symonds is mentioned now we all think of a dodgy drunk!

Indeed. I wish him well, but only because we really need his batting and fielding abilities in the abridged formats of the game. I'd say his Test career is over, and he may have to blast his way back into the ODI and T20 teams. It's sad.

Yeah, To be honest I dont think he is of much value in the test team. an average of 40 is good for an allrounder. But a bowling average of 37 isnt.

His recent test and first class form isnt great. His last test get got 27,0.

But his odi presence will be missed

A rumour doing the email rounds.
What do you reckon in light of tonights news?

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Apparently Rumor has it that after the Sheffield Shield Final between the Bushrangers and Bulls a Young Vic player was chatting with Andrew Symonds who’d had plenty to drink.
He asked what Lara Bingle was like?
Symonds said that he was bonking her when he was in the UK and introduced her to his roomy, Michael Clarke so they could "double team" her!
The 3-some relationship went on for some weeks until Clarkey said "she's mine Roy" and he left her for Clarke to deal with.
What happened in Darwin, when Symonds went AWOL was that he was again very pissed - and trash-talking Bingle to other team-mates.
Clarke apparently went nuts over this, as he didn't want anyone to know as he trusted Roy not to mention anything!
They’d been very close friends but when Symonds was told he was out of line he said "fk you" and went fishing.
Most Aussie players backed Clarke cos he’d decided to marry Bingle and they’d already bought a $5.5 million house in Sydney.
However, insiders know what a tart Bingle really is........remember the Fevola incident?! The Katich incident was also because of this..!
Big friction over Lara contributed to crap team performance in Australia v’s South Africa.
Clarke as next Australian Captain = plenty of baggage.
Theory is that Symonds is pissed off and once his career is over he’ll spill the beans to the press for money about the whole thing.

Interesting take on it all Billy.....it certainly wouldn't surprise me. When the Bingle/Fevola thing came to light it appeared that she clearly wasn't the sharpest knife in the drawer or the most classy. I see this week she has snubbed 2 personal appearances for charities, and forced Clarke's hand not so long ago to sell his house because Lara was lonely and it was too far from metro Sydney.

She is only 22 years old so perhaps we are expecting a bit too much from her, but I found it very interesting that the story appeared in the last couple of weeks about the WAGs apparently being spoken to by CA regarding their role (or lack of it) on the upcoming Ashes tour. Supposedly Bing Lee's ex-wife was to blame for a lot of the unrest, but it will be interesting to throw Manou's squeeze into the mix this trip (Olympian runner Tamsyn Lewis) as another WAG with a high profile.

There wouldn't be much written about Symonds or Lara Bingle for that matter that I would find hard to believe these days!

Well in Symonds defence he does look like an NRL player so accusations of booze and group sex with teamates isn't surprising LOL

If he looked at retired cricketers he would see there is PLENTY of time to booze it up and get fat when his career is finally over.

it amazing what scientists would uncover i reckon, if they were to study guys like symonds, cousins, darius miles and countless other world sports stars... as a casual observer or fan, you just ask WHY DO THESE GUYS NOT UNDERSTAND THAT WHAT THEY DO IS A PRIVELEGE THAT MOST PPL WOULD GIVE ANYTHING FOR??

Its the fans that put people on this supposed pedestal. At the end of the day they are just normal blokes who like to have fun... David Boon knocked down 40+ beers on his flight to the ashes trip back in the late 80's, and he has been branded as a legend... Symonds has a few drunken indiscretions and he is branded as a loser because he didnt show up to a team meeting or went fishing or got his end away... Where have all the characters of our sports gone?

Did what Boon did get in the way of team performance or the team in any way? Did he do anything wrong whilst drunk? Did Boon have an ongoing problem? I would say No to all those. Plus the general make-up of sports have changed. You cannot do that type of thing anymore. We still have charactors, but just because they're no longer able to go out and get wasted anymore doesn't make them any less of a charctor.

I agree Ben, sport has become more professional and with the salaries they now command due to the professionalism of the sport they should act accordingly especially when on tour. Symo wants to play top level but with all the clichés of local club cricket. You cant have the best of both worlds. Either take the chance to play for Australia and get paid millions or quit and go drink tinnies with your mates out of an esky in the break of play at the local oval.

Its not a pedestal that they get knocked off, its simply not doing what is now expected of them by their EMPLOYER and peers. Its that simple.

Its a fact of life that in sport you have to give up certain things. For me as a cyclist it was even simple things like headache tablets LOL **** happens.
