Red Dead Redemption - PS3

Hey guys just wondering if anyone on here has played this game yet? For those of you who dont know this is the lastest RockStar game which is very similar to the Grand Theft Auto's but in a Western theme. Bought it a week ago and have found it, in my opinion, better than the GTA's and have probably played too may hours on it rather than study . I know its a big call but being so different and set in an environment which is different to what we are all used to (city life, not beating down everyone in sight and blowing things up...of coarse that depends what your like ) find it better than GTA. It's of coarse got it's side missions but you can have old western quick draw duals, hunt animals, break in hoarses, hunt down outlaws, pick wildlife has a sweet new slowmo when targeting people for precise kills and like the GTA's has a pretty sweet story line and ive just passed the 50% mark of the game and hvant been around the whole map yet. I've only played the single player so far and not the online multiplayer yet and dont want to till ive finished the single otherwise I'll get caught between the two. But if any of you have played online tell me what you think!

Yeah, I just got off the PS3 after playing it for a few hours...it is certainly great fun. I have GTA4, but never really sat down with it for too long, I just couldn't get into the spirit of it. I still struggle a bit with this "sandbox" style of game, but it is pretty easy to follow the story path in RDR. I would like to find some more duals, only had one so far, and it was good fun!

Yeah they are randomly placed throughout town the duals, but in the last few missions ive played ive had to sqaure off against a few guys...good fun i reckon!

Every time i go for a smoke at work a bus goes past with the advertising for this game up the side. Might have to give it a go one day but atm im still too hooked on 2K10 and MW2

I have got Red Dead its good fun different to a lot of other games. I don't really think you can compare it to GTA though completely different. Its like saying weather you would live in the city or country they both have there own unique qualities. I found Red Dead can be tedious at times when you ride for ages and nothing is happening. I actually liked San Andreas the best for the fact of gang war and buying businesses and safe houses. I was disapointed they took that out of GTA4
I am only about 20% into read dead so far but seems ok in most areas. It is an acquired taste though

Thats interesting crg0084, first person i've heard that reckons its not similar. Yeah im like 60% through now and only just now gettin slightly tired of riding places, but theres little things you do on the way there. How are you goin with finding the treasure? Have you got that small map clue yet?

Completely different setting yes, but near identical game mechanics. Of course you can compare them.

I have got the treasure map but only just so havent started searching yet. People can compare them but thats just how i feel the 2 games same style of game but apples and oranges really. Just my opinion of course people will compare as they are from the same company
