Sounds good. I went to the Nrl one organised by guys on here earlier this year, and no offence to the guys involved but there were literally 3 or 4 tables/sellers there with mostly the same stuff and it wasn't really worth going. Be good to go to a bigger one with more variety, QLD definitely needs something like that.
You seem to have a lot to say, so maybe you should organise 1 and see what eventuates!

fuckin pissed i missed the Carrara markets :(

Just readin about it now.... If I had known, I would have been there.... I live 2 minute drive away

Yeah, you're a dick...i said no offense to the guys, i wasn't having a go at them. I appreciated their effort but it's not really worth going when there are only about 4 sellers, particularly when it had been advertised that there would be more there. I am not a seller of cards or interested in organising a show. Frankly i don't care if there aren't any shows but if there was a decent one i would go and support it.

4 sellers was more than 0 and there were more than 4 with Quality, and people like you deter from me arranging another 1, food for thought sunshine!

/\/\ still, feedback is important. and if people arent willing to make a trip for 4 tables of similar stuff then thats just constructive criticism...? its not like he was rude about it?

It is a lot of work and organisation to hold a card show. I know of three events in the last 2 years around the south east area. One was an event with immortals. I could not attend this as I had to work. Heard it was good, cost a fortune and the organizer paid good money out of his own pocket more than most of us could afford. I take my hat off to him. I have been to both the card shows the one in Mansfield and the one on the Goldie. The one in Mansfield was more like a card show it took a lot of time and months to organise. . If people in the industry sellers and collectors do not commit to turning up to these events, they will not be held. The show on the gold coast was organised for Brisbane due to event site problems and had to be cancelled for some reason this ended up being moved to the gold coast at short notice and with no time to organise the venue it was held at the markets like a store. A card show needs a lot of behind the scenes work for free and if anyone is prepared to do this they should be treated with some respect and dignity. So if you have organised a show or have been part of the team that has helped or set it up for everyone I thank and respect you.

Well said mate and if i may add to what you are saying, there is a MASSIVE difference between holding a 'CARD SHOW' which is normally done by a 'COMPANY' exhibiting their goods as a promotion for items that will be available for sale as a business venture which costs a lot of money and hopefully through sales of THEIR product, THEY will be enjoying a business like lifestyle, then you have a 'card show' which was probably more of a trade and meet show that derives no actual income for the person/s that put it on, purely to get something happening that has been requested for a long time!
To be straight forward, most Queenslanders have always done it tough, over many years, everyone thinks of the Gold Coast lot that come and go with their lost fortunes, so the art of buying/collecting in this industry is well beyond most peoples means so ebay is the best and most cost effective way of collecting!
If you want to pay players to attend a 'card show' then hopefully you will recoup some money, yet i doubt that, otherwise, Autographmemorabilia would do so, just for some signatures that are attainable on ebay!

I always wanted a sports memorabilia store and i was so close to starting 1 until i realised that so many items on ebay for sale, apparently signed, were nothing but prints limited to 500 and there are hundreds of these items for sale because they really have no value! The market has died due to prints or reprints and backyard jobs!

If 'the game rugby league ' had his table in sydney it would draw hundreds, same with redtorana, and takbne, and if Brian Anyos had his in Melbourne, possibly more, so demographics is always the key to these shows otherwise they would not cancel them here in Brisbane!

The show that is being arranged in Brisbane for late may only comes down to where this event would be held. That is used for drinks by people on a regular basics that they can move them to another venue on that day if that can happen I know their will be a show but that's all it has come down to right now. To a lot of people this maybe something that can be done quite easly but it not as easy as it sound. The other problem why shows don't happen is the cost of insurance, but major problem is their is that a shop already has insurance so they can add the venue to their insurance but if people do not support shops why would they bother. The one that is in the pipeline in Brisbane I can tell you what I know it is a major one budget is $7,000 to 10,000 without player appearances. I here on here people complain about no shows but the funny thing is if people supported the people putting the shows on you would not only see more shows but dealers wanting to come from interstate to be their. Both the game of rugby league and Carter make good points why you need to support theses people who run theses events. I did a show in Parramatta last year and I got Sam Perrett to make a Appearnce he did that for me. I am setting myself up for getting shot down in flames here, support theses people because without them you will only have eBay.I want to see more shows because I would like to be their putting things out their seeing and talking not only to everyone who is into collecting but new collectors as well. So this is is the final thing I will say about this, get up be heard make a noise because if you don't no one will care and their will be nothing.

What type of venue does it need to be. How many ppl does it need to hold, floor space, alcohol permit....

The place we are looking at right now is floor space it is large no need to worry about that. Alcohol can be permitted that is still up in the air as the show will have a kids around. It does hold plenty of people. The 2 players that are in the mix for this show no one will be disappointed if the are rugby league fans. Their is carparking very close by at no cost. Train station is less than 5 minutes walk away from this venue. Advertising for a show in Queensland will be advertised in places people could only dream about. Free entry to the show as well.

The show has finally been rescheduled and announced!
APCS Queensland Collectables Show - Sunday 5th of May 2013; Building 7, Brisbane RNA Showgrounds.

I'd be interested in attending.

I do like my Rugby League and Cricket but would mainly be chasing NBA stuff.

Does anyone know what kind of stock there will be? Boxes??? Singles? Anything high end?
