2013 ESP Elite NRL Cards Thread (Updated 5/8/13)

Some people are missing the point. If ESP had said "we are keeping all 001 cards" there would be no issue. It's not the fact that there aren't any 001 cards, it's the fact that ESP blatantly lied and said there would be. Just like they lied when they said the Traders Young Guns were numbered. People bought boxes and cases expecting what was advertised to be inside and available.

Not missing the point at all. I fully understand what you're saying; just saying it is not a deal breaker at all. I agreed from the start its disappointing but companies lie all the time. No use getting worked up about it since the only way to influence it is to not buy the product. That's a choice for each of us to make

Companies lie all the time so it's ok?

I can't agree with that, kicking up a fuss is the only way they will listen and realise it's not ok.

Didn't say its ok. Just that it happens and you're kidding yourself if you think it doesn't. I respect your opinion and am just stating mine. Kicking up a fuss on a forum won't change a thing though as their product is still going to sell out very quickly and that is what matters to any business.

I've made my choice to look at this release as a good one and not get hung up on what I perceive to be minor imperfections. You clearly perceive them differently and that's cool. Each to their own.

I am in process of writing to esp regarding the packaging of their products, (now 6 boxes and 5 starter packs without sigs or golds.) i am as disappointed as many out there,

Now i hear that they are keeping the number ones.
Advertising states that there are 130 sigs etc. And we as purchasers believe (or i did, that these were in boxes). However many have been found in starter packs and albums. Album is where i got lucky.

Now please dont start the (expected ratio's may not be in each box argument). I never expected they would be. But this company is one of the best at MISLEADING THE PUBLIC.

My letter is now also being sent to the ACCC.
Misleading advertising is against the law.

And if esp even care, you have seen the last dollar of mine!

Do we know for sure how many packs / / boxes / cases were produced? I've seen estimates based on the ratios and card numbers but not sure if the exact number has been released by ESP?

Could be the ratios are correct and there are less packs available than we thought.

It will probably be difficult to prove but I hope you have some luck Rey.

Whether it's Select or ESP if a product is advertised with serial numbered cards, there is an implicit selling point that all of the available numbers are available.

There is always ACCC and Office of Fair Trading if anyone feels strongly enough. NRL may also be interested in the business practices of one of its licensees.

Not so sure about that, I wrote a scathing letter to the NRL Licensing area detailing all my concerns as a collector to the things I was seeing and hearing. My letter (email) was just forwarded to ESP and their Manager sent me a WTF email asking why I had done that.

It's on the side of every case. It clearly states 576 cases x10 boxes =5760 boxes made.

Just trying to work out some numbers im probs way off as i dont have actual numbers but im sure someone has correct numbers out there

I thought there was 576 cases produced so that means 5760 Boxes in total
Now if there is 129 Sensations & 104 Future stars then thats 2064 & 2080 sigs total respectively now if theres 4144 Sigs in circulation and only 5760 boxes.

So theres 2 sigs and a gold to 3 boxes (even if there in the same box) meaning the 1:72 ratio is correct
so if theres 6 sigs per case and a total of 576 cases that means 3468 sigs are in cases and sticking to ratio's

so those remaining 676 sigs would have to be put somewhere i.e.: Folders & Starter packs and the ratios still stay the same based on case production

Or is my maths all totally out of wack?

If its correct then

a) the ratio's are correct to the boxes respectively
b) The sell sheet states that the sigs are limited in edition to 105 & 130 sigs (so limited to and numbered to not how many is released) [I assume thats covering themselves from false advertisement]

It says that many cases but your missing the starter packs nd there would be 2500 packs in the folders too... so how many starter packs are there

No your missing it, the cases clearly states 576 cases.... Starter packs & album are not included in case count they have there own packaging & case/box count.... So there would be 138240 packets just in cases only.

Let us know how you go with this? :)
I for one find ESP to be poorly run with how they do things as a company. I feel they are improving with there actual cards :)

Lets end the debate once and for all with:

4144 Signature cards in circulation (Not Including #001, held by esp)

576 cases = 5760 boxes = 138240packets - 3840 sigs spread throughout cases (with the 1:72 ratio)
2500 Albums produced = 2500 Packets - 35 sigs spread in albums (with 1:72 Ratio)

= 269 sigs left for starter packs

If starter packs keep to 1:72 ratio aswell that means there are
6456 Starter Packs = 19368 Packets (still keeping the ratio 1:72 thus meaning Ratios are correct across the entire board right down to the final packet spot on

Also continuing the mathematics based on Ratio's

160,108 Total packets created
1,440,972 Total Cards Printed For Sale

Take out the entire 210,252 Insert Cards range leaves 1,230,720 Base Cards

160,108 Parallel Cards Total
25200 Triple Threat Cards Total
12600 Australian Reps Total
6320 Silver F & F Cards Total
2080 Gold F&F Cards Total
4144 Signature Cards Total (Sensations & Future stars not including #001)

Also one last counter question..
On the boxes it says on the top flap "these ratio's are not guaranteed to be exactly included across all boxes or cases" So does that not cover them from false advertising? Since they have admitted its not exact to the single card.

them keeping the #001's hasnt bothered me half as much as the inconsistency with the textas used. surely that has to be pissing you all off too?

theres at least 4 different ones been used. some like myles barba slater have the thin then theres the in between that buderus, shillo, prince have used and then theres johnsons and millers future star that are different again. thats ridiculous in my opinion, thats what ruined the set for me, i had planned to try for the master, now im left not wanting a single card other than the triple threats.
