RANT Remember the days when Dermott Brereton got cleaned up in the AFL grand final and came back on to make an impact. Remember when there were bumps, scuffles, acts of currage, EXCITMENT. Remember when men were men and if you couldnt hack it you had no choice but play soccer!
In this day and age when money is tight and teams are looking for fans and money, why is the AFL killing the game?
They are slooowly taking out all the bumps, scuffles and contact from the sport. Instead trying to make it faster and less of a contact sport.
For me the speed to is killing the game any way. With more unforced errors, poorer foot and hand skills brought on by the go go go... Making some games turn into a sloppy mess...
Why have the AFL turned there back on things that have made the game great? The real men of football are dying... The big clashes, the high flying (hands in the back rule) marks, the corage....
Its little wonder the report list from week to week is becoming increasingly longer and i dont doubt this will change...
Players and coaches alike are getting mkore confused on what buymps are legal and what arent. Making the game softer week after week. Its just not worth putting on a bump anymore as your unsure of whats reportable and whats not... Bring back the old rules there!
Players are now standing back not comitting themselves, waiting for a player to come in and scope the ball up only to jump on them and get a holding the ball decision... The player putting there head over the ball and trying to get it should be rewarded not the man jumping in after... Scrap the new ****ty holding the ball rule...
The 50 metre rule is as soft as soft. With some decisions just laughable... Who ever thought up that one should be shot....
And giving umpires more room to interperate rules is a nightmare...
So lets bring back the fans, bring back the bumps, aggresions, scuffles, the corage....
Its either that or just bite the bullet and put the umpires and players in skirts.....
