Foreal? I would at least expect some massive patches for that price. They are tiny on the patch autos.

Some of those gold pen autos are horrible too.

And am i the only one who is not at all a fan of pieces of gold/silver/platinum incorporated in the cards? I just don't get it. It only kind makes sense when the whole things is made of gold etc (solid golds) but even then its a shyt concept.
Can almost see the inevitable questions over the Gold etc used just as with the gem cards.
Be a video on youtube with some guy at a jeweler pulling it apart and weighing and testing the metal.

I find the use of precious metals and unnecessary way to bump up the 'value' in the product. Some awesome looking designs but definitely not for the price point. I would be interested in picking a card up from this just to ad to the collection, but doubt I will.

I think the product looks OK, not blown away, not a hater just not super interested! I cant believe the price they are asking, there is almost 100% guarantee you will not get anywhere near the money you spend on it back so whats the point!! For me wasn't the excitement all about pulling a $20 dollar insert out of a $5 pack of UD or skybox and then there was finest at $10 a pack but you might hit a MJ refractor the odds always seemed possible. Now the odds are out the window you still are likely to pull a 20 card just out of a $$$$ pack...

When or where will this ever end, Surely collectors have to draw a line somewhere... I will definitely be interested to see how much of this stuff actually gets busted over the next month or two!

For me the hobby is just getting too expensive and with that expense my enjoyment is dropping dramatically and steering my interests elsewhere, which is sad to admit as I love the cardboard and the memories it brings back!

I agree, I'm currently buying base or rookie inserts and enjoying it way more - with way more $$ to spend elsewhere.

Exactly !

I find myself chasing exactly what I want, NOT what the hobby tells me I need.
Just picked up a ripper of a 90's insert, really pumped for this thing to pop up in the mailbox.

I too can remember the days when I started opening packs.....coughed up for a pack of Topps Finest at one point - got I think an Isaiah Rider Cornerstone RC and I think a Patrick Ewing. Remember pulling a Shaq / Penny Thunder Lightning from a pack of Skybox as well as one of my first packs pulling a Chris Webber RC Skybox RC card. Those were the days!

I still get some enjoyment out of pulling a nice RC card - such as Wiggins or Parker, but they are next to worthless straight away when they are all over EBay that is there any point? And then to pull as an insert a parallel of a card you already got......much prefer a nice insert card.

Sorry a bit off topic.

The cut signatures will be the only cards that'll go for at least half of a box price. And even then, only Babe Ruth's cut sig IMO would go for that price.

Yeah i think folks are already complaining that the gold bars are 14 karat. So a gold card has about $600 usd of gold in it. 58ish% gold.
I have seen a couple of cut auto cards around and they *imo look crap. But i really dislike cut autos anyway.
Some of the cards do look really really nice, others just look like Noir. This is about the first time i am happy that there's nothing for me pc wise in a release. mj23hk has busted a couple already.. hope he finds Wiggins soon. Seems to be mainly lakers cards so far jabbars, shaqs n kobe's going buy break threads and feebay.
Fun to watch this golden titanic set sail!

I heard that Panini sold this product out.

If you have the disposable income to bust this stuff and not bat an eyelid at a 50% return then I suppose good for you.
IMHO, its just another step towards destruction of the purity of the hobby and turning it into a casino for big pocket gamblers.
There is no reason to market a product at that price point. Where is the justification? Corporate greed plain and simple.

The bad points;
Unaffordable to 95% of hobbyists
The big thick gold pens.. look horrid and for the most part streaky.
The patches... small and underwhelming (have you seen the all star 'patches' FFS) Some you couldn't even call patches. its 5k, EVERYTHING should have the most insane fuck-off patches or tags in them. no excuse.
The majority of the designs.. mostly cluttered and silly with odd shapes/areas for the players to sign on.
The hunks of metal in the cards... why just why?? Falsely inflating a cards value with tacky pieces of metals in it. no one is going to take the metal out of the card to sell it, so what is the point? (gold standard solid golds are perfect)
I have seen patch windows that are damaged
Holofoil everywhere, just too much of it.
There is no new signers... nada...

The good points;
The box is mint
3 or 4 sets have great design with limited holofoil and no hunks of metal and they look fantastic with the thin gold pen auto.
Except from about 6 or 7 names, the checklist is what it should be I guess.

Thing that would have possibly justified the price...
Autos and patch autos of Barkley, Ewing, Duncan, Kemp and a few others.
Full Championship game tags of GSW (like the Immac tags)
Redemptions for game worn championship/playoff memorabilia.

yes most went for mid 200s the dearest was a shaq that went for 600 so buying a box unless you pull that magical one of one is a very bad investment.
cant wait for the half price boxes lol.
Yeah even at half price they're gonna be miss more than hit. Remember $5/$6K box price is US$ not AUD.
