My weight lose challenge.

Good luck with the program, someone had mentioned Diet Coke:eek: please stay away from Diet Coke you just need to do some research on the sweetener 950 & 951 aka "Asapartame" which can be found in Diet Coke. I'm not going to harp on in detail but I recommend everyone looks this up.

I hope it all goes well and stick to it.

I get asked this a fair bit. I then turn to the person and ask whats going to put you in an early grave faster. Being 20kgs overweight, unhealthy etc etc or.....

I've seen many drop dead at an early age and heart disease is our biggest killer so in the bigger picture if diet coke or coke zero works for you I've got little problem saying drinking it.

And if you live a healthy lifestyle, exercise and eat well there is no reason why you can't find room for normal coke in your diet in moderation. I drink it and we have actually been endorsed to drink it at times whilst in competition even.

There is another thread about weightloss on an un named site ;) I was made aware of and there is some dodgey and plain stupid comments and suggestions made in it. I'd like to avoid a repeat of that here with no disrespect.

And a thread about others weight loss is great but a comp to lose the most is not very responsible as numbers lie about the true effect and could turn it into a dangerous venture for some.

good job mate....first step is always the hardest...making the decision to go and changing what you eat and how you exercise is a big leap. congrats mate you should be proud of what you doing and what you are accomplishing. As for the depression mate i hope you have got a good support base. my gf lost her dad to depression mate so if you ever need someone to chat to shoot me a pm!!

Well I would of recommended shrugs, upright rows, chin ups, t bar rows etc.

If its the only muscle that isn't responding to your back workout then I'd might blame simple genetics. Some people just don't develop larger specific muscles. Also look at your diet and routine. PM if you like as you may be over training your back and not allowing enough time for muscle repair or not enough protien etc.

Protein is an interesting topic in itself.

For anyone that is interested, the Australian Institute of Sport has a very interesting article on it:

Australian Institute of Sport :: Protein - How Much?

I had this discussion with our hospital dietician just the other day. Interesting how the first thing most blokes do is buy protein powder when they start training at the gym!

It was a relatively light hearted suggestion; even in it's context, I can't see anyone with their head down the loo to win a comp involving some cards. I'm hardly irresponsible with health given my occupation and employment! ;) (that is not intended as a rude response either ... hence the ;) )

Yeah I know but there are a lot of couch sports fans willing to dish out all sorts of advice that mostly wrong and wastes people time and money. Its pretty devastating to people when they put everything into it only not to get results and give up. But at least you do have the know how and its great to have that here when members have questions etc.

And yeah the protein debate is always a hot one but I never discount peoples woefully deficiant diets in todays busy lifestyle. The average they talk about doesn't cover what everyone eats daily especially those that are already overweight and unhealthy. Even if it covers only a few days a week or even the placebo effect at only a few dollars a week one glass of milk with 30gms of powder is not too bad when it keeps people focused.

I've used them a lot in the past as its hard to have a diet when my sport involves too many hours to sit and have the many meals a day we should have. Therefore our diets aren't always spot on as its what food we can carry or eat whilst riding a lot of the time. And this is thru the VIS.

Weighed in last night guy's and girls and lost .9 of kilo so pritty happy with that its a lose, so down to 120.9kgs and thats 3.9kgs I have lost in 2 weeks. Great job mate.......dont know what sort of exercising ur doing but a good way to shed kilos fast is interval sprints...just go to an oval or around ur street or on the treadmill then sprint flat out as fast as you can for as long as you can..then walk till u recover...then bust out again as fast as you can...then walk...do it for about 10-20 minutes mate and kilos will disappear..if ur doing it in a street or road 3 powerpoles sprint...2 walk.

Would love to do sprints but I have torn my ACL in my left knee 6 weeks ago playing basketball so I am waiting for a op on my knee. My weight lose has been from sticking to my points each day.

Job mate keep it up.

Good job mate, i too suffered from depression and was on and off tablets there for a while. Now i work shift work and am off the tablets, well only cos i was to lazy to go to the doctors to get another prescription..lol I always told myself the day i hit 100 kg's would be the day i'd drag my bum off the couch (or computer) and do something about it. Thankfully i never hit the 100 kg, think i got to 97kg but am now back down to 83. Which is weird cos anyone on here who has meet me would still think i'm a big guy...lol

Keep up the good work mate.
