Yes DUMP THE OFFER!!! Haha it also helps for noobs like me who sometimes don't know what the card is worth and don't wanna pay too much or accidently low-ball someone

or you can put a ball-park figure for high-end cards?

Yeah im with you Steve. I have on occasion had offer only on cards but they are usually only when i need cash for something and i don't really want to sell the card but would move it for the right price.

Takes all the guessing and crap out of selling buying if there is a price listed.

Yes i see your point and i'm sure all of us have been frustrated many times

But at the end of the day, it is the other persons card/s and they can do what they like with it, who on here can say that if they had 2-3 offers they would not take the highest offer? (Assuming buyers had equal standing)

For the record i list prices in my sale/trade threads, but it's not for me to decide what others should do

It is frustrating, especially when you make an offer and they respond (often rudely) by saying "no that's to low I am after $$xxx for it" ......then why not state that in the listing.

I do however agree that it the sellers right to market their card(s) any way they like, so I will have to vote Disagree even though I wish more people would list with a price.

I would much rather ban the post "PM SENT" now that drives me

I can say i wouldn't..simply because i don't say make an offer so there wouldn't be 2 or 3 offers.
I believe in being honest and up front with my sales..
And the mods could say you must state a price...not saying they will tho.

Totally agree Steve. My view is that if you want to sell something here, you should think about the price you want first and put it in the sale thread.

I think it is up to the seller.

But personally I just ignore any posts that say make an offer, mainly out of fear of sending what is perceived as a lowball offer.

We HIGHLY encourage it or at least I do. Whenever I've sold here its been a flat price right up and usually under market value as I'd rather the cards go to members pc here than onto eBay. It just makes it so much easier and people that want too much will quickly learn their items just sit there unsold. After all here you save eBay fees etc etc so there is no harm in selling a bit lower to help out Aussie collectors for the good of the hobby. What comes around goes around.

I think it's a good idea to list a price in a listing, and say "Feel free to make offers"

That way everyone knows the ball park you are looking for, and it is a good starting point for negotiations.

i too think it should be abolished it seems to be dominating everything.
it wasnt to bad when there was only 1 or 2 but now there are heaps.

to the unknowing its a real easy way to get ripped of and how many sellers have accepted an offer way over the card/s value but have slammed someone for offering a fraction under the card/s value????

i have made reasonable offers to some and have either been told that they wanted more or this reply, "well on ebay the buy it now price is $$" (and usually at the most well known overpriced seller/s (not collector/s) on ebay)

also i noticed with different "make me an offer" threads the name calling that sometimes follows the offer but i will admit that has died down since admin started deleting replies/threads.

Grahams idea is probably the best way if we have to have it:
list a price but also include "or make me an offer"

But i vote for get rid of it totally as someone will abuse "or make an offer" for sure

Ebay fees for make me an offer threads i like it...
it will also raise some funds for admin to keep the site going

I think it's a pretty safe guess that anyone selling any card at any given time has at least a rough idea of what it would take for them to be relieved of said item(s).
Not a fan of dancing around small details, if I want something I'll pay for it. If i want to get rid of something, I'll know what I want for it..
Though, I see both sides of the poll too. I guess there is generally a fine line between collecting and mising, just that there is also a big difference between the two

offers can be useful for very rare cards where there's no known price, but that said, if people list prices they have the right to change their mind or not sell at that price.

95% of the time if I see no price on the first or second item I do not read on in the sale thread.
