Panini America’s 2012 Rookies & Stars Longevity Football, the retail-oriented relative to both the hobby and standard retail versions of 2012 Rookies & Stars Football, finally made its way to store shelves last week. But that, of course, is not really the news hook here.
The big story, at least to me, is that it includes a few exclusive insert sets not available anywhere else, highlighted by the fantastically fashioned Dress for Success, a 35-card chase that easily ranks as one of the coolest-looking insert sets of the 2012 NFL trading card season so far.
Frankly, I thought as recently as a few weeks ago that Dress for Success would once again be part of the base Rookies & Stars release this season. But I was wrong. Then, I figured it would be exclusive to the retail version. Wrong again. So when I found out that it would be found only in Longevity, well, I just had to spread the word.
The 35 cards in the set — which features a base event-worn-memorabilia version as well as a scarcer prime-memorabilia version numbered to 49 — pay tribute to the superstar rookies who attended the 2012 NFLPA Rookie Premiere set against a dramatic, cloud-filled backdrop.
There’s a miniature-poster appeal at play on these cards and words alone simply can’t do them justice. So for your viewing pleasure, here’s a complete 35-card gallery of the prime-memorabilia versions.
Enjoy.
