And once again upper deck dish out another f'n set with Jordan in it, and oh what is that old looking card, oh thats right another f'n thrashing of the 86/87 fleer design. Great work upperdeck, really looking after the fans by dishing out the same sh!t year after year and set after set. I won't be buying a pack of these at all.

I don't mind the retro sets, each to their own I guess!
im definately not knocking anyone for wanting to buy the boxes, as you said, each to their own. The retro sets are great when they were unique, but the way ud flog something to death has been a reason why the hobby struggles to get many new collectors and keep them, and the people who are around start to get sick of it.
Something like topps treasury, now that was a great move as it is unique and interesting. I just believe UD could do a lot more with Fleer then droll out the same stuff everytime

Do i like Jordan. Sure he was great when i watched him in the 80s and 90's. Is he relevant now as far as collecting in this years sets, not really in my opinion. All those cards in their achievements sets are the same photo's from sets back in the mid nineties. So in summation, do i believe its fair for the collector to pay for something drummed up years ago, then no, not particularly.
bleh. The sets should be for current ACTIVE players. If you get over your Jordan obsession for a minute you would get the point being made.
I don't want to see Havlicek cards in the common set either. Its pointless and not relevant. Jordan can have sub sets or inserts etc but its getting old real fast for a lot of fans. Bird and Magic saved the NBA but the league has allowed itself to move on. Bout time UD did the same thing and embraced and helped create the stars of today and tomorrow more. The more they rely on Jordan the more they shoot themselves in the foot by underexposing other great players STILL active!

i have to agree to some degree i do think that upperdeck has definantley mass produced the michael jordan francgise to marketing limitsespecially in the late 90's i mean there were that many jordan sets you could buy retail but wait theres a jumbo version aswell (i only know this cause a bought all of them hahaha) but he is the greatest
This quote could not be farther from the truth. UD made their money back in the day through baseball, mainly by introducing great sets and great rookies, eg Ken Griffey Jr, Alex Rodriguez etc.
UD will not go bankrupt with out Jordan, and as other posts state, give a chance to the new blood. Even look at this years rookie crop, like rose, mayo heck this is the future of the NBA right here. Great ambassadors like D howard who bring a bit of fun instead of thug life to the game should be revered.
Now my original post was not about Jordan not being great, didn't even mention his playing prowess. Its more of UD and the way they dish crap out to the people who keep them in business.
By your reasoning Kareem should get thrashed in sets as he has more accolades than Jordan has. But as other posts read, it is not relevant anymore!
I think that both Topps and UD have used the past players like MJ/Bird/Magic way too much in way too many releases.
Legend players should only be included in the base sets for the years they are in the league.
These legend players could still be featured in some insert sets but not in the base common sets.
Leave it to today's stars.

Chill out man. I agree with the past photo's continously being used & i've already mentioned it to Chris Carlin numerious times to stop drumming out the same photo's each year. But these achievement set's a done to celebrate Jordan's upcoming hall of fame year - they aren't there just for the sake of of being there
I must add most collectors still recognise Jordan as the Greatest player of all time and collectors will still continue to collect his cards regardless of whether they get produced or not.

Those Season Achievements are from the 200 card set that they sell in Target stores... its not from the 08-09 set
Totally agree.... because if they have the legends in inserts/gu/auto etc.... ppl will still buy them.... & MJ in nearly all base sets is getting over the top.....
