Bulls v Heat 2011 Playoffs Eastern Final Thread **SPOILERS INSIDE**

WOW really suprised at that game. Such a large win. Where is this magnificant Miami team that was going to take it up to the bulls and smash them? I know its only one game but really Miami do not want that to set the tone for the rest of the series otherwise it will be a 4-0. Rose was superb again but the big point to come out of this game is rebounds, rebounds, rebounds. Bulls flogged Miami all night on the boards winning them 45-33 and a staggering 19-6 on the offensive end hence giving them 19 more shots. Noah, Boozer, Asik etc were all beasts on the boards.
Deng's job on james was also a thing of beauty. How deng did not make one of the all-defensive teams will always stagger me.
Having said all that it is only 1 game, but the bulls look to be in top gear once again. Bring on game 2!!!!

Stats sometimes tell the story so I'm just going to point out 4 major ones.

1. Bulls with 19 offensive rebounds. Staggering. Consequently they also had 19 more field goal attempts than the Heat.

2. Heat with 16 turnovers to the Bulls 9. This is a reversal of what usually is a key for the Heat winning. Worst thing is, most of the turnovers were sloppy and careless.

3. Heat with only 15 free throw attempts, this simply won't get it done - Bulls turned it up and the Heat went soft (except for Bosh).

4. Bulls with 10/21 3 pointers. That's the most this post-season, through 11 games they had only made more than 5 in a game 4 times.

Happy with Bosh's game. Heat need to man up. End of story.

Yep all a result of the Bulls brilliant D and Heat's lack of. You give a player that many open looks behind the line they will hit them consistently eventually. Its also a result of the Bulls good ball movement on the offensive end. That movement has been severely lacking up until a few games ago and it now looks like we have hit a good rythm.

I wonder what Spoelstra does now. Continue with small-ball or go to a bigger lineup? If small-ball is the go more energy and hustle is needed. From watching the game I genuinely don't know whether small-ball or going big would be more helpful. Would be good to get Haslem in there (health permitting) but I think Dampier is more useful than Magloire.

Well what is the lesser of the two evils for the Heat. Go small again and you may get increased hustle and rotation on the denfensive end which was lacking in game 1, however you will probably get smashed on the boards again. Go big and you lose that hustle.
I think for the heat no matter which big man they play Noah seems to be getting the type of form he will flog anyone on their roster, which has always been the big question mark for the heat.

Ah I was talking about increased hustle and energy on the glass, not on defensive rotations. The Heat's rotations weren't terrible, it was their inability to grab loose balls. Give the Bulls bigs credit for grabbing heaps of offensive boards off the glass or out of the air - but there were at least 5 individual situations where the ball was on the floor and the Heat didn't go after it. It then leaked out to the Bulls and they got a 3. Or when there were 3 Heat players waiting for the rebound, but none of them boxed out so Taj Gibson just jumped over them and grabbed it.

Those situations aren't determined by size. They are determined by will, hustle, energy etc. Players like Haslem never miss a box-out assignment, hence are able to get double-digit boards most games despite only being like 6'8". I'm amazed that at the highest level of play in the world, on such a big stage - players still don't even do a simple task of boxing out.

It was actually quite painful watching the 2nd half of this game. The Bulls had such a nose for the ball, and got all the bounces on shots. While the Heat played good defense, forced misses and then seemingly didn't want to go and get the ball off those misses. End rant. See ya'll at Game 2 ;)

Ok to me those rotations were lacking and hence why the bulls go so many open 3s that they were able to hit. I think Haslem is still too under done and will get smashed. Its really up to those senior players such as james, wade, bosh and even bibby to incite that hustle and energy as you say it.

I love how reporters still try and make this about the off-season.

Reporter: "Derrick, how much of tonight's win was about retribution or related to how some of the Heat's Big 3 could have come to Chicago but didn't?"

Derrick: "No."

Also should be noted that the bench agian was given an opportunity to play decent minutes. They sure performed for the Bulls.

But remember the benches aren't important................ even though the bulls outscored the heat 28-16

I knew I'd get called up on this.

Well they aren't MEANT to be important for the Heat. Heat bench only outscored Boston's once and they beat them 4-1. But I guess it's pretty damn important when both LeBron and Wade fail to score 20 points.

We just got our asses handed to ourselves tonight, plain and simple. Ba-ram-you!

Its funny because ever since you denounced the bench and their importance the Bulls bench has played very well and been very important the whole time as it was in the regular season.
Even tonight the bench was half the reason we won. In the 3rd when it was still tight and the benches both came on against each other our bench gave us that breathing space and then continued it on in the 4th.
Bench will ALWAYS be important when you play the bulls because when both sides benches take the court you have to be able to keep up with them. I mean hell we have the confidence to start with our bench in the 4th 90% of the time so they have to be important!

PS WTF is Ba-ram-you!
