Steve gave card to G as collateral for unpaid goods. Therefore no longer in possession as G now owns it till Steve pays him back.

Steve tried to sell something that wasn't his any more to Bolli (ie not in Steve's possession)

think of it like a pawn shop. Someone needs money so they pawn an item. The pawn shop now owns the item. If another customer walks in, the pawn shop is within their right to sell that item if someone offers a price they want for it.

Until Steve comes forward we wont know whats happened and how he plans to fix this mess.

I could turn around and say has Steve got proof the card was his in the first place apart from a scanned photo? which he could have gotten online from G.

I guess the lesson here is if I buy something on eBay ill save all my receipts so I have proof of purchase.
