New Immortals named tonight.....

Really well done. Had to crack out the 08 Centenary collection for a trip down memory lane!!
good looking at them hey Brendan, I remember reading about Dave brown 40 odd years ago and thinking that easts team had some very good players back in the day, all those records that stood for so very long.
I used to go to easts club and meet with my grand father every monday night for tea.
He used to go on and on about all the brawls all around the club and birell st where he lived.
I still have some easts memorabillia in the cupboards from back then.
Glad to see some of the old legends get up.

John Sattler used to run the pub near me, great bloke to chat with and a true gentleman. If Legends cards continue in 2019, Sattler and one of Clyde, Mal or ET

I think the NRL nailed the concept tonight. very well done.

Sets up 2022 as the next 2 immortals (Lockyer/Smith/Thurston etc?) could they all be named?

Cheers
Matt

i honestly think that is still to early for players to be inducted i think they should be out of the game for atleast 25 years before consideration for immortallity, HOF yes but immortal still plenty of other players to go before smith and thurston get in

Totally agree.

I got the feeling last night was about addressing the imbalance a bit.

Cleaned the slate, so to speak.

Hall of Fame is where they'll now set the platform and focus on that.

I agree with the 20-25 years after retirement for Immortals. There was a huge push for Lockyer and TBH brutal, I'm 50-50 with him being an Immortal.

my theory is if they are still drawing comparison to players and talking about players 25 years after they are out of the game when the game has evolved further and a new generation is playing/incharge then they must of been great like wally and gaz, you rarley hear many people comparing players to locky or telling stories of his "glory days" and hes been retired for 6 minutes

I understand their could be another release of cards before the end of the year, somehow linking it to the centenary set of 2008.If so,i hope if there are auto,s,it will be affordable to all collector,s.Because most people like myself can not afford the high price tag some of the auto,s go for.As for all the immortal,s named ,i still believe one of the 13 do,es not deserve to be there.

"Affordable".... unfortunately that is wishful thinking I believe.

If there are immortal signatures - of the five inducted, three have passed away and Norm Provan is not in good health so unsure if he would be in a position to sign cards? Leaves only Mal as an original signature. Others may end up as printed sigs like Churchill was in the Centenary set.

I agree and think if they start inducting 5 at a time it will take something away from the immortal concept . As you said wait the 25 years as I think a lot of people are confusing great players with immortals so to speak .
Maybe leave the ones that haven’t changed the way the game was played for the HOF?

I hope the set is consistent with the 08 release and if so I would expect Immortal Signatures /125

Joey and Mal, don’t think Norm is well enough to sign. Maybe foil signatures for the three pre war inductees.
