Official 2011-2012 Playoff thread

Personally don't give a rats ass who won, been a Chicago fan since the late 80's, when I was around 7 years old, due to actually being exposed to the NBA by American family friends, but would have preferred to see the constant jokes about Lebron not having a ring continue.... Lebron is the best player of his generation, almost undoubtedly! But the guy has or at least had, haven't seen game 5 or interviews etc etc, no class, a shocking maturity level and a massive ego that is not only self driven but media/jock rider driven.

I personally agree with Shuey, bandwagoners get under my skin something chronic, not for their support, but the fact they ONLY show that support when that team is winning like a BUCKET LOAD of fair weather or bandwagon Miami Heat supporters are doing and have been doing all week..... Not just on this site, on FB and other social media, some to the point of me never ever realizing people Ive known for a long time support or follow basketball!!!

exzibit, your acting like a fking knob.... get a grip.... People don't like Bron, that's their opinions, they have reasons for their opinions, they don't act like 13 year old spoilt brats when he loses, they do (just like me) pick on stuff he does and go to some extreme lengths to do it but they don't resort to being stupidly childish... I use to love reading some of your discussions and posts because you seem to be very knowledgeable and have conviction in your opinions but now your going to have a stigma of being a childish d!ck attached to what I read of yours from now on......

Seriously, Im expecting the whole ner ner I don't care Lebron got his ring, wish I could smell his underpants from game 5 sort of response but just like your few posts in here, I and many others will just be thinking what a dick you are.....

Good on Lebron for getting his ring, hopefully it will be the monkey off his back and not a massive ego explosion that causes him to lose concentration going forward and stopping him from getting a fist full!

The Heat and Lebron deserve it the way they have played the last 4 games, no doubt! It would be a massive relief for the whole organization! And in the end it really can not hurt the NBA as a whole!

I just hope OKC don;t over react to the smashing they got and it doesn't affect the players mentally to much!!!

I hate people who use the phrase "buy a championship". Isn't that the idea? To use the funds at your disposal to build a championship team? Keep in mind too that James, Bosh and Wade all took pay cuts to play together, LeBron left a 28mill a year extension in Cleveland to play in Miami for 15mill a year.

I think teams like the Thunder are the minorities, you can't develop every team. Not every team has players with the potential of Durant, Westbrook or Harden.
if that was the idea then who would buy the small market teams? For me its about building a championship team. Its easier for teams with big cheque books. For me this whole LeBron thing sucks balls, cant deny his talent but would have loved to see him win 1 with the Cavs. When u get 3 good mates all working to get to the same team it makes it very hard for other smaller teams. If the NBA owned the Cavs would they let this happen unlike NO's pulling of CP3 deals. Its all cheque books and hairy balls to get the wins.

There's a reason they're called "Small Market" teams and the owners know what they are getting into when they buy them.

Well now that the Heat have done it. The other teams that want to win will have to step it up. Get ready for some great teams to be formed.

The other thing is, alot of guys from the championship calibre teams are nearly retired. Kobe and T.D are responsible for 9 of the last 13 rings, they've only got probably 2 years left. Pierce, K.G are on the way out too. Dirk's got a few left. Nash on the way out.

To me the key is teaming Dwight with either Chris Paul or Rondo.

It's gonna take a special team to knock these guys off.

Of course there's still the Thunder. They have many years ahead. They also have the issue of salary cap pressure. As in, they need to go over it to keep the key guys off contract that will have big bucks thrown at them soon.

Let the offseason begin.

Lovin the nba right now.

I'm very optimistic when it comes to my Nuggets, especially if we can secure another big by either re signing JaVale or drafting one *cough* Sullinger *cough*

I'm going to put it out there right now!... IF the Denver Nuggets draft Jared Sullinger, I will give away a LeBron James Auto! That's how much I want Sully HAHA

Yeah that's a fair call. They were really impressive this season and have so much depth and one of the best coaches in the League.

Definately a team to watch.

now THAT is a team I would have no problem watching win!

They are BUILDING a championship team, and with depth! Not grabbing 3 huge names and playing join the dots with vets and cheapies!

Aussiemjfreak..disappointing man, that you would take my childish banter to heart and be offended..I'm just being a d!ck and deliberately getting underneath the skin of people who have been giving the Heat and Lebron a hard time, just for sh1ts and giggles. And if your comment about being a bandwagon jumper were directed at me, you can trace back posts I've made from 2 years ago when the Heat are on a massive losing streak that I was a supporter back then and throughout these playoffs when they've been down in the series, I've always backed them up. Apologies all around to those who took the gloating to offense especially the oldies, you should know that I will sh1t stir every so often just for the fun of it :)

Now that the offseason has begun, what sort of changes are we going to see at the Heat and OKC? I don't expect much with OKC, but can see a couple coming from the Heat...

Getting 3 superstars together doesn't guarantee championship.

Just look at Houston Rockets when they add Barkley next to Drexler and Olajuwon for 2 years... And when Clyde retired in 98, Houston replaced him with Pippen. That was 3 years of no championship. And thats with Rudy T coaching...

How about the Lakers adding Malone and Payton to the Lakers in 04 with Shaq and Kobe and Phil Jackson coaching? No championship and the very next season, Shaq gone, Phil gone, Malone retire and Payton gone!

Alot of great players can join forces but doesn't guarantee them automatic championship. A lesson learnt by the Heat last year that they need to work hard for it which they did this year. The biggest obstacle to a super team to get that chamionship is the ego of each player.

You can say all you want about how Miami got their championship this year. Miami could have easily lost to Indiana when Bosh went down but Lebron and Wade just won't give up. And the C's have Miami in the brink of elimination but Lebron did what he did in game 6 of the ECF in Boston - MVP Performance.

People don't need to like Lebron or the Heat but you could at least show some respect not basing on their talent and skills alone but for the hardwork they put into it.

Just enjoy the game and appreciate greatness! And now that Lebron has tasted becoming a champion, I believe that Miami will be back in the finals for many years.

Not that I don't agree with you, but all those blokes, how old were all of them compared to the Heat's big 3? All retired within a couple of years and were past their prime unlike the Heat big 3!

I anticipated that someone will comment about their age. ;) And Nash could join the knicks in the same way and we'll see what happens to that.

The problem with putting together younger ones is that their Ego is much bigger. Plus alot of the young so called franchise players like to have max contracts.

True, but at least they don't have 38 yr old legs and still have time to gel, again see the Heat. On Nash, the Knicks will need more than just him to win a championship.

I agree Norm. I'm sure other teams will follow suit. Finding the right combination of young superstars will be hard though. The trio of Wade-Lebron-Bosh is one of a kind and we may not see this getting duplicated.

Well if someone could package deron and dwight together, along with another emrging star, there is a possibilty. There was some talk of cp3 to the knicks to package with melo...

What I really meant is putting together younger players and winning it all.

Dwill going to Orlando with another star will be a great matchup for the Heat.

Ha ha The Knicks just won their first playoff GAME in over a decade. If the Knicks are so amazing, how did they finish 7th IN THE EAST!!!

Pacers = average. Good young team on the rise though. Making up the numbers and overachieved this season.

Celts missed Avery Bradley BADLY, you know, the guy that kept Allen out of the starting lineup. They even missed what Wilcox and O'neal gave them.

Ibaka and Perkins are not Bynum and Gasol. Perkins has been found out massively this series.

Totally agree, Bosh not being there was a huge loss. It showed that everyone calling them the big 2 and a 1/2 were wrong.

I'd love to see the Heat go through the teams that OKC went through. Would be interesting.

 Never claimed the knicks were 'amazing'. My statements were based on that you said that the size of Bynum/Gasol
was going to be a problem for the Heat, nothing else.

I think the Lakers might have been too big for them. That's all.

At the end of the day, The Heat won the Finals. Of course they deserve the title. I just thought OKC deserved it more with the teams they had to go through.

Congrats to the Heat. Great team building there. Different guys stepping up finally to help out the big 3. That's how you win rings. This team is scary.

If OKC could go out and get anyone, I think they should get Steve Nash. He'll help them alot and could mentor Westbrook.

Steve Nash to mentor Westbrook? In what, using twitter? Theyre not even remotely close to being similar players!
As Scott Brooks as always said, thats not the point guard he wants.

Only way OKC deserved it more is if they actually won.
