They say you can’t judge a book by its cover. Sometimes, though, you can judge a booklet by the coverage its given here on The Knight’s Lance. That’s certainly the case with Panini America’s 2013-14 Preferred Basketball, which received rave reviews last week based on a jaw-dropping booklet preview gallery. Today we’re bringing you a more complete look at 2013-14 Preferred Basketball by featuring a cadre of specimens unearthed during the recent Quality Control process.

2013-14 Preferred Basketball stays true to its roots by delivering three autographs and one booklet card in every four-card box. The calling-card favorites that have come to define the product return, headlined by the spectacular Silhouettes and Rookie Silhouettes, Panini’s Choice Award Autographs, Preferred Signatures and die-cut Crown Autographs.

New additions to the autograph roster include the colorfully foiled Rookie Revolution and NBA Pride inserts. Clearly, though, the most unique aspect of Preferred Basketball is a checklist of bountiful booklets that has received a distinct upgrade for 2013-14 — beginning with the stunning NBA Finals booklets that feature game-worn jerseys from the 2013 NBA Finals between the Miami Heat and San Antonio Spurs. Each of those cards is game-dated on the back and details the respective player’s performance from the game the jersey was worn.

Other key additions to the memorabilia booklet roster include Jumbo booklets, One on One Rivalry and Two on Two Rivalry booklets, and Rookie Revolution booklets incorporating unique 360-degree photography from the 2013 NBA Rookie Photo Shoot.

It’s all on brilliant display in the gallery that follows. Enjoy the early look and stay tuned to The Knight’s Lance for continued coverage of 2013-14 Preferred Basketball.

Could you please just make an auto set all with the same numbering? I've been waiting for a set to collect from your latest products, and love some of the designs, but everytime they come out it's a mix and matched smattering of #/20, #/10, #/99, #/199 all within the same set!

Apart from the Silhoettes looking pretty solid, 13-14 Preferred is a load of junk.
How terrible do the multi colored crown royales look compared to last year!!!

The checklist for it makes no sense.. the 'Paninis Choice Award' cards feature some poor as feck players.

The Vs booklets are a good idea, but executed so fecking poorly.. They need some damn color!! And they also should have had a nice border like the rookie booklets but in a silver for non prime and gold for prime.. how easy would that have been to execute!!

Same goes for the Finals booklets.. how about some bordering around the patch window??

Panini design team are terrible. Preferred is a steaming pile...

I pray they have used all their creative flair for Flawless and Immaculate.
