Under normal circumstances, our first look at any new Panini America product begins with a Panini Peek post right here on The Knight’s Lance, using information and images from the product information sheet (PIS) our sales team uses to solicit the product. After that, we typically follow up throughout the creation and production processes with frequent updates so you can watch with us as the product comes to life.

Of course, 2013-14 National Treasures Hockey was never intended to be a normal product. It’s the first — and likely last — stand-alone National Treasures product hockey collectors will ever see. It’s Panini America’s fond farewell to its loyal hockey collectors; the kind of product hobbyists across North America will remember forever.

In recent weeks, we’ve shown you many remarkable reasons why we’re so excited about 2013-14 National Treasures Hockey, including splendid sneak peeks at the product’s Treasured Steel and Buried Treasure inserts, as well as pre-ink glimpses at the NHL Shields, Rookie Cards, Treasured Twigs and unparalleled booklet-card content. Today, we’re going to offer some of the basic release information — and, of course, a few more images.

2013-14 National Treasures Hockey is slated to release August 27, and every eight-card box of the high-end heavyweight will deliver one acetate-topped Rookie Patch Autograph numbered to 99 or less, one autographed memorabilia card, one booklet card, two additional autograph or memorabilia cards, one Printing Plate and two base or parallel cards.

The product also features an abundance of creativity. In addition to the aforementioned Treasured Steel, Hidden Treasure and Treasured Twigs inclusions, 2013-14 National Treasures Hockey will feature Treasure Chest memorabilia cards (with a staggering 24 players on one card) and will also introduce hockey collectors to diamond-embedded Flawless cards.

Other highlights include . . .

  • All Rookie Patch Autographs will feature an oversized patch piece and numbering to 99 or less; there are also Brand Logo, Snap and Shield variations.
  • Rare autographed versions of the Treasured Steel and Buried Treasure inserts.
  • Diamond-embedded Flawless cards will be numbered to five or less and will be paralleled by a 1/1 Platinum version.
  • Jumbo Quad Booklets featuring four oversized prime-memorabilia pieces, including NHL Shield versions.
  • Dual Stick Booklet Autographs featuring signed pieces of game-used hockey sticks from the game’s best players.

We’ll have plenty more to preview on 2013-14 National Treasures Hockey right here on The Knight’s Lance in the coming days and weeks. Until then, however, check out these new images:
