Can someone explain this to me? Cause it doesn't make any sense what so ever. Card values, at its very core, is governed by print runs and rarity. We saw this all too well in the 90s with mass production reducing 99% of all cards to basically fire kindling. Why hasn't this theory applied to Jordan's RC card? There are literally thousands of his RC cards out there, enough to go around for everyone. As an example, check out how many jordan rc are currently listed on the up coming auction by pwcc. A card with a print run in the thousands is nothing special so why is Jordans an exception?

Ummmm, iconic set loaded with HOFers, condition sensitive. Why is ANY vintage stuff priced high? Simple rules of supply and demand. You mean to tell me if they dropped to $300 overnight you wouldn't buy multiples?

It's a Jordan RC dude, only the Star competes as far as Jordan Rookies go.

I'd love to add one. Just like the other million Jordan fans out there.

Ironically you mention how cards from the 90s etc have dramaticly dropped in value, and in some ways the same can be said for the MJ rc.

If you look in early 90s Becketts it booked at $6000US ungraded.

In the last 2yrs they have re-tripled in value after dropping by 70% after the introduction of the internet and eBay which proved they werent as scarce as first thought.

I bought my BGS8.5 for $790 5yrs ago when they bottomed out.

Yes it is about supply and demand. All vintage are priced high because they are scarce. Try looking for a 50-70 year old nba card. Hardly any around. On the other hand, Jordan fleer rc cards are not scarce. They are everywhere.

Thanks coopz for confirming . Have been out of the hobby for a while so didnt keep track of prices. Didnt realise how far a Jordan rc card has fallen in price.

Do you have any of those Becketts that say $6000 US?

I remember them being around the $2000 mark and then dropping.

I completely agree about the internet affecting things, but at the end of the day, this card will always see rises and falls, the NBA season really affects prices, people are currently prospecting players in the game, then in the off-season the vintage graded stuff sees a bump as there's no hype around so people look for sure things to invest in, or just spend their dosh on.

There's also a lot of Kobe and LeBron Chrome Refractor Rookies but they won't see too many falls, they are solid bets and iconic cards, just like the MJ.
