State of the market!

My main gripe with them and the reason I haven't gone in one for 4 months or more is that they predominantly run PYT and not randoms. I'm guessing 90% are PYT. It means unless you are straight on the better teams as it releases you are going to be left with the junk teams no one wants from a value perspective. At least with a random you have a shot at getting a good team. When they were breaking 2022 Bowman this year I missed out on a biggish card ( Arteaga BCA /50) because I didn't get the Giants quick enough. I'd had them in five consecutive breaks up until then. That pissed me off. I spent about $750 on breaks in a six week period between May and June this year and got maybe $150 worth of cards. Horrible.

And I never got a shot at Cincinnati or Miami as they were always snapped up straight away. If they ran more randoms I'd go into them.

I do some randoms and always get a bottom 5 team. I watch the same guys always get the top teams, so I rarely do it anymore.

Nothing worse than spending 200 on a case break and getting the worst team

It seems that the majority of people hold your view and I guess that's why Cherry do it but if you look at the PYT it's mostly the same guys getting the good teams. That does not happen in a random. At least it shouldn't. I'm not going to sit in front of the computer for hours waiting for the PYT to drop. That's not living.

Keeping with the theme of the thread I'm still buying cards but only for filling sets and these days that's purely hockey. I'm mostly done with buying cards to flip. Maybe 5% of my overall spend goes into cards that I'm trying to flip. Pretty much every card that I purchased in the last 12-18 months has dropped significantly. I'd rather get towelled up opening wax than buying cards that you end up selling for a loss. That is a truly miserable game.

I made one good move last year by selling all my Acuna cards the day he got injured. I had pulled all those cards in 2018 and I wasn't attached to them. At the time I was selling below comps( BatDown PSA9 for $500USD) but all those cards are now down 50% from then and I don't see them going back up again. I think we might be at a stage where what goes down stays down. Selling Acuna was my only good move last year. Wish I done the same thing with every player not called Ohtani. My Soto collection looks pretty ordinary compared to last year.

I am positive there are a few users of Cherry (one in particular) that must be running a bot to get particular teams in PYT breaks. I tried a challenge where i tried beating the guy to a team and could never get close and my order-fu is pretty good.

Those guys at Cherry are dodgy af. I refuse to have anything to do with them.
I am in the process of trying to get a "missing" card refunded....and want to stop going there but they're the only one around with the Panini hookup ffs.

I wish there was someone else, and i don't really want to break with US breakers

Can I ask why you feel this way?
I’m not a big customer of theirs, been in maybe 8 breaks over 18 months but just curious.
Their singles prices are insane…

I just went in my first break with Cherry since early July. I managed to hit an on card auto out of Black Diamond. I always seem to sprint well fresh. Not sure what it is but it's definitely a thing. Same with golf. The more I play the worse it gets. Take a 4 month spell, however. And I'm on.

I just picked up a Josh Giddey Optic Rated Rookie Holo for $12 US! I was shocked how low a lot of stuff is going!

Giddey Panini One RPAs for $200!

Unbelievable. Prices have well and truly settled and I am starting to think twice about breaking, especially with NBA. Saw a breaker charging $1200 for OKC in a case break. Could probably get a RPA /49, 99 and the low numbered base for that price at the very least :)

I think it still has a long way to drop as well. Boxes are dropping daily. Might wait it out another 6 months and then start buying some older stuff for some fun rips
Agreed, but so many people not wanting to try and catch a falling knife means I can grab more /10s for my set chase than even a month ago!
