Official 2015-16 NBA Season Thread

I would disagree that Silver is a pushover. Mentored by Stern and his first move was vs Clippers owner on a racial issue! Pretty solid imo

Agree on the more physical style though - love 90's ball.

Imagine James Harden in the 80s and 90s...he would have had to say out on the perimeter and shoot contested 3s (which he admittedly makes some of).

On the topic of the Houston Rockets...they seem to be improving, but overall this is the Rockets team I was expecting last year (no leaders and an MVP candidate that went viral for poor defense).

Their offense is improving, their defense is ranked like 26th in the league or something. Your never going to get far when that's how you are traveling. The Houston commentators vs Lakers said that they'd heard a certain bearded shooter had lobbied to get rid of McHale because of his hounding of him to commit more on defense.

I just don't get why they don't utilize Howard more often in their offense. This guy takes so few shots a game, but he's far more efficient than Harden. It's mind boggling.

who's got the balls to pass it to him? might get 15 assists in one game but that person would spend the next 6 months on the bench after harden moans hes not getting the ball for an iso every play!

Watching the Lakers opening quarter is making me super angry so far. Zero ball movement, all isolation plays and horrible shot selections. I know we rank last in passes per possession but this is even worse than normal

Can someone please explain to me how Jordan Clarkson got the bulk of the minutes over D'Angelo Russell at PG tonight?

Clarkson: 35:02, 8 points (2-14 shooting), 6 rbs, 6 ast and a +/- of -14 (team worst)
Russell: 23:26, 5 points (2-5 shooting), 2 rbs, 4 ast, 3 stl and a +/- of +1 (only Nick Young was better with +3)

Meanwhile Kemba Walker: 38 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 steals and 2 blocks (+14)

Just another reason that the Lakers will get a top three pick.

And by the way, All-Star voting update came in. Kyrie and Kobe are in the top 3 for their conferences in their positions, while Enes Kanter (that's right) is 13th for the Western back-court, the PorzinGOD is 8th I believe in the Eastern back-court (happy with that) and Reggie Jackson is not in the top 10 for the Eastern frontcourt (really?)

Draymond Green with 29 points, 17 rebounds and 14 assists against the Nuggets. Wow.

Will Barton came close to a triple double too! 21, 13 and 7. He's been exciting to watch recently.

Who do you guys think would be leading the award races at the moment?
Here's my top 3 in all of them.

MVP
1. Curry
2. LBJ
3. PG13

Rookie of the Year
1. KAT
2. PorzinGOD
3. D'Angelo Russell

Most Improved
1. Will 'the Thrill' Barton
2. Enes Kanter (I know, but look at the guy's stats!)
3. Linsanity (Same as Enes)

Best 6th Man
1. Nicolas Batum (2K had this predicted from the start!)
2. Manu Ginobili
3. I can't think of anyone else!!!
Who do you think are in the running for these awards?

Most Improved is a two horse race in my opinion - Will Barton and CJ McCollum with McCollum holding a comfortable lead. They had almost identical stats last season so it makes it easy to compare them head to head. Instead, I'd be looking at Barton in the 6th man race.

Will Barton
2014-15: 6.8ppg, 2.8rpg, 1.4apg, 0.3bpg, 0.8spg
2015-16: 16.8ppg, 6.2rpg, 2.6apg, 0.4bpg, 1.1spg

CJ McCollum
2014-15: 6.8ppg, 1.5rpg, 1.0apg, 0.1bpg, 0.7spg
2015-16: 21.0ppg, 3.7rpg, 4.3apg, 0.1bpg, 1.3spg
