why does usa basketball suck so much??

he probably bet his house on team usa winning..
i think this is the best possible thing for basketball, usa does not have the best team on the planet atm.. and so they will be pulling out all the stops trying to get it back..
whilst bball in europe continues to grow..
it should be great to see such a tussle in the future years

lets just say.....the the world has caught up and its now at a point where you dont know who is going to win........and for basketball these days........especially in fiba basketball......its allot better and more exciting. usa always have so much presure to win every game they played since the 1992 dream team....(still makes me laugh when the new reporters call this team "the dream team" still)....even though the usa lost...they were still better than the 04 Olympics, and have a better usa basketball program now in place.
i think if the usa do win the gold in 2008.....it would really mean allot to them...cause they know how hard and how long it took to acheive, and have all the respect for other countries..
Shows you also the difference in the USA basketball program for the mens compared to the Women. the usa womens team...after they win the gold...some of them cry cause they knew how hard it was.....as for the guys.....its like nothing...its like "aw yeah too easy.."...im looking forward to their reaction after they win..whenever thats going to be...they way things are going for them could be quite a while

hmmmm, they dont spell team with an "I" last time i checked, bunch of selfish ball hogs. so u cant really call them TEAM usa, rather, group of overpaid "and1" streetballers that made it to the big show.

far out man.......your upset cause they lost 1 game?......im suprised your not having a go at the aussies so got killed by 40 points.....
i see this world champs for the usa as a warm up and a feel for this team....then the real test is the 2008 Olympic Games. I understand everything your saying.....but this team is still amazing....for them to get at least the bronze in 04 was still fantastic considering they were up against allot of good big men who play with eachother allllll the time...duncan needed help...and the usa team was just thrown together on paper..
I don't think you relise how YOUNG this team is.......this is 1 of the 2 youngest NBA USA Teams ever.........the other 1 was in the 2001 Goodwill Games in Brisbane that won the gold...5 players on this 06 team are 22 years of age or younger. as for the whole there is no I in team....mate...pleaseeeee......they are all key players on their nba teams..do you see every 1 of those players shoot 20 shots each?....they need to improve from the 3 point line....

im not having a go at the australian team simply because there were no expectations of them, ever. infact, i used to find it laughable in the past whenever the good doctor, adrian hurley or whoever was heading the australian team would state, we got a good chance to medal this time around.

funny because Australia has got its first international medal (Silver) in the 1998 GoodWill Games, and that was on the World Stage in New York City. (i have that game on tape)
Australia will medal in the next 10-15 years....our basketball program is getting so much better, and as well as our national league...which will attract more imports which will help Australia basketball in the long run.
i know 1 player that did 4 years of college ball........Shane Battier did 4 years right?

Shaq and KG have both had their time in the US team. For the nba stars the goal is to win an nba championship - for example if KG played for the US after missing the end of the season with sore knees.... is it gonna improve his chances of his team winning the L?? American sports stars all have the goal to win their national comp. They don't grow up thinking I wanna win the hoops world champs.....or baseball world champs....
Also the only dude that I know who hasn't played for them is Kobe (maybe wrong there)

ok the usa needs better outside shooting
for example:
1992 usa team: Mullin/Bird (also Barkley that was 7 from 8 from 3point land)
1994 usa team: Mark price
1996 usa team: Reggie Miller/Mitch Richmond
2000 usa team: Ray Allen/Steve Smith
2001 usa team: Mike Miller/Lewis/Terry
2004 usa team: ??? Iverson? StarBerry??Jefferson?...not good enough....
2006 usa team: Jo Johnson? Melo?..(Melo did ok i guess)
the last 2 teams didnt have a pure shooter....no disrespect to Jo Johnson..he can shoot, but they need a guy like JJ Redick or someone that specialises in that area.
the 04 team was terrible...not enough outside shooters...not enough big men to help duncan....they needed Keyon Martin on that team

i don't believe that USA basketball sucks, i agree with what mickimouse said, sure they've had difficulties in the past few years in internaitonal comp, but the rest of the world still has nothing on USA if they put together the best possible team.
eh so wat if they are meant to be the top at bball everything ends u.s wont be the top country of this planet forever either , everything comes to an end , n as much as i love the nba I still think that the players n all sports players n alot of peops in general get WAY OVERPAID, n esp since theres european players that can do the same thing or even other countries around the world , yet they miss out which is unfortunate

I don't think USA is playing badly but the world has caught up which makes for a much more exciting game and tournaments. Usa losses are good for the world game! I don't know about you mate but I used to find the worlds and olympics boring as cos we all knew who would win!

you know......ive always always wanted to see a club international/european team play a playoff series against the nba champion......would be very interesting...i dont know if they have that "Mc Donalds World Club Team Championship" thing or not anymore...
but serious the usa if they want to win THESE days.....they have to play more practice matches...the teams they go up against are more of a team....and actually spend more than 5 seconds of preparation.....i know usa basketball have done the 2 or 4 year commitment thing.....but they need to play warm up games on a regular basis each year (in the off season) if they want to improve and get back on top...but thats me
