The Official BOSTON CELTICS thread

Re: The Official BOSTON CELTICS Season Thread

What a surprise that was watching highlights on ESPN! lol. Flicked on the telly after chcking into the Sheraton and started fist pumping when I saw the outcome! I really though it's be an easy win, but I think poor shooting would have been the main problem. When the percentages are down on shooting, against the better teams, you will struggle and the C's have done so, or at least those games have been closer than the higher percentage blowouts.
A win is a win and it's now 11-1.

Re: The Official BOSTON CELTICS Season Thread

Another "built-up" game ahead tonight, although, I think the Cetics can take this one. The Cavs are short-handed, even though the C's may well be without both Allen's for this one, they definitely have what it takes to knock this Cleveland squad over.
Looking for LeBron to fall from his pedetal of POTW in this one and some of the bench to step up yet again for the Celt's.

Re: The Official BOSTON CELTICS Season Thread

Im going to start calling R Allen Scraps. Basically little of the offense revolves around him and its the extra passes etc that find their way into his hands.

Bron still hasn't got a great supporting cast and if we can limit the Cavs 3 pt% and FG% just like we do to everyone else at a league leading rate I think still we will strangle them offensively. KG should have a big game today against the Cavs line and Rondo on Gibson should play into our hands as well. Match up wise we are great imo and I couldn't care if Bron goes for 40pts. It still means the other Cavs need to combine for another 50-60pts.

Re: The Official BOSTON CELTICS Season Thread

Have to keep big Z off the boards too - he's been great this year - Bron drives and Gooden and Z attack the boards.....looking for a big game from Parkins to help KG here....

Re: The Official BOSTON CELTICS Season Thread

Just watched the second half of the only loss again and damn that hurts. Celts chocked, Tony Allen chokes and the refs let the magic walk with the ball....

Should be 12 and 0 LOL

Re: The Official BOSTON CELTICS Season Thread

Was worse when there was Kendrick and Kedrick on the team at the same time and now we have two Allens of course as well.

Typical bitch whinge & moan from a Celts supporter.......

You guys mentioned two Allens, it's like with the Mavs, two J.Howard's....

Looks great on the scoreboards..

Re: The Official BOSTON CELTICS Season Thread

haha!! too true. Must say KG and Perk look like they got totally outplayed by Z and Gooden - was worrieda bout the rebounding and was right to be......Lebron was Lebron. IMO the best player now - way better than Kobe.

I can't remember the last time KG only got 5 rebounds in a game.....

Still - woulda won with Allen hitting two ft's late in the game....

Re: The Official BOSTON CELTICS Season Thread

Yeah I was suprised about KGs performance. Still an overall good performance.

Mind you, if it were the Mavs, and Dirk got those stats, it'd have been called a choke...

Lebron is playing some fantastic ball of late too.

Although i havent seen a game this season, with the line up boston has they shouldnt even have close games. Bron was Bron in this game but as for the comment about being way better than kobe, i think the gap between alot of players in closing. Bron has picked his game up another notch, kobe is starting to pass more and players like TMac and other are lifting to. To me Bron is the best player in the NBA at the moment with Kobe, TMac and a few others not far behind. I still the Celts will underachive this season, and a few other team lookin like they will overachive AKA Buck, Wizards, Hornets etc.

Re: The Official BOSTON CELTICS Season Thread

Man, tough loss, missed too many shots, poor offense late too by the sounds of the radio coverage. We could have won both games we lost but threw them both away. Gooden single handedly won that game. He shot like 9 for 10 in the second half and that's what kept the Cavs close. Otherwise Boston would have another cruisy victory. Then Ray missed the 2 free throws that would have won it for us in regulation.
If Gooden didn't do what he did, it's a Cavs loss.

Funny how quickly the haters get onto a loss! lol.

Well done Doc, (part sarcastic, part genuine) Big Baby was a good move. We had success in the past getting Gomes in against Gooden and Z on the boards which is when the Cleveland big men can struggle to keep up, it worked again here with Big Baby, even if only for a few minutes.
Ray Allen coming off minor injury, not training, in question for the game and playing 49 minutes?????????????
My main bitch about this game is the lack of organised and more or less sensible offense from Boston. It sounded so un-organised, especially late, by listening to the coverage. They have some issues they need to get sorted.

Re: The Official BOSTON CELTICS Season Thread

Are we surprised to hear of Allen's minutes Brad??? Doc will have this lot beaten up by the all star break and then what??

Unlucky not to get the win on the road and we should of won consdering we are talking about FT's from a player like Allen and not just general play and that old game of 'what ifs' that pops up in OT games.

Poor game on the road and we lose to last years finalists who play well and their star scorches us AND it still takes OT and a lapse for the loss.

Two losses and by a combined 7pts in total. Can hardly say we aren't competitive.

Didn't get to see, hear the game yesty etc but we were up at the half and I was pretty confident when told of that.

Back to 20pt wins with NY next up.

Re: The Official BOSTON CELTICS Season Thread

PLEASE if we keep winning DONT give Doc the award!!!

1. Doc Rivers, Boston Celtics (11-1)

Everyone knew the Celtics would be good, but how many people figured they'd be this good? Not only do they have the best record in the league, they're just blowing teams out of the water: their +13.0 average point differential is five points better than San Antonio's +8.0, the second-best mark in the league.

Rivers may not be doing more than standing back and watching greatness unfold, but to the victors go the spoils: the longer the C's continue to be the class of the league, the more of a sure-thing that Rivers gets this award. If it happens, Rivers will be a repeat winner, having already won the honor in 1999-00 as a rookie coach with the Orlando Magic. I'm not sure that a world where Rivers wins this award twice before Sloan wins it once is a world I want to live in, but that's where we could be headed.

Re: The Official BOSTON CELTICS Season Thread

I think he's good to a point, but some things he's done haven't been great as we know. He can be a much improved coach though! For one, he's kept the same line-up for all games this year! That's unheard of from Doc.

Re: The Official BOSTON CELTICS Season Thread

The game vs the Knicks is on at the moment. All i can say is, close your eyes, its terrible.
