First one of these I think we've had! :v:

The new look Celtics hosted their first game at the "Garden" for this season ysterday, also being their first game back home from the Euro-Camp. They dominated the Knicks for the most part it seems due to field goal percentages. Final score 101-61.
The Knicks shot a tick under 26% from the field overall, with a dismal 15.5% from 3 point range to go with 60% from the charity stripe. Meanwhile the Celtics lead the way with 56.3% and 70% from the field and 3 range respectively whilst out drowning the Knicks on 53.8% on the gimmes.
Performance of the game had to be handed to The Truth with 22 and 6, 5 assists, 1 steal and 2 blocks to go with 1 a piece on fouls and turnovers. He missed just one of his 8 shots, being 3 of 4 from long range.
KG had 13 and 8 (2 blocks, 3 assists) whilst Ray Allen had 14 and 2 and Big Perk was perfect from the field again also adding 2 steals and a block.

Good start for them...alot of people are expecting good things for the Celts this year. Lets hope they pull through!!

Awaiting the trolls and thats great. People troll winning teams.

The ball movement looked great Brad and KG's passing in all three games is something he has shown will be the real improvement in his game making others better around him. Thats Boston basketball after all.

Pierce had a great stat night and the Celts were hot alright. Only pre season and already we have been canned but if your team wins by 40 pts are you expected to be pesamistic and put them down as a team fan??

Already the bench is showing despite its lack of real big names each night someone comes and does the job needed. Thats what you need out of a bench after all. The running game has worked a treat as well but its a long season and it will be interesting to see how Doc handles that and the tempo. Although KG seems to thrive on it.

KG's passing an improvement in his game?? DUDE KG has always been a great passer!

I hope Celtics win it all this year cos KG deserves it.

Sure he has AJ but its been at another level so far and finally he has great help and confidence in his teamates. It has been better so far though.

When you are the most successful franchise in NBA history there will always be the haters and I understand I have enjoy the losses of other teams as well

Hopefully these team threads remain on course and are about the teams and the trolling left to well timed and well put remarks and not constant abuse.

Ah gotcha Nah I've never had a bad word to say about Boston, and in fact not sure I have had a bad word to say about any 1 team in the NBA...
Since my team has NO shot at winning it, I'd simply like to see my guys do well and Atlanta do well, and watch the Boston show! Looking good for you guys and hope for their sake you pull it off cause they'll be alot of questions asked in a couple of years time if it doesn't work.
I'll be watching! I reckon you have alot more depth than what others give credit for.

Well it was either trade Pierce and get nowhere near his value or hope that Big Al, Green and co kicked on but not enough for success and still get us draft picks. By then they would of played about 4 or more losing seasons and what toll that took is anyones guess? The NBA these days is a lot more about free agency appeal and teams like the Pistons, Heat have shown that. Now Boston is the 'it' place to be and they are lining up especially if they take a pay cut for a shot at a ring.

For years we couldn't get anyone to even think about going to the cold city. Even KG said no till the Allen trade.

Oh I agree, very good and bold move IMO but if it doesn't work, I think they'll be alot of scrutiny that for all the reasons you mentioned above, is probably un-justified.

The biggest thing I noticed about this (I'm sure you noticed too Chad) is the KG to Perk pass we've seen in every game so far and will hopefully continue to see as long as they are paying attention to Garnett in the paint. It's got to the point now where Perk knows how to get free and near the basket for the easy score when guys are helping on KG, especially after an offensive board. That in itself will make Perk feel like a more dominant centre and just watching it, Perk screams so much more confidence than when we were watching him in years past.
Talk about improved ball movement and to top that, off-ball movement. It's impressive. Posey has really impressed me on defense, taking charges already and nabbing steals. I as a little worried when they signed House and Posey as to how these guys would be at getting along and having good chemistry with the rest of the guys, but they've flourished and bonded well.

Celtics site reports:
Tony Allen is recovering from "scratches to the cornea" of his eye. He copped Brendan Wallace's elbow whilst depending against a pick and roll play. Tony expects to be back to practice by Wednesday.

Although, I'm listening to the game coverage against the 76ers and TA is playing. Pierce and KG are not dressed for the game and Perk did not start as well. I'd say just resting for this game.

Mind my ignorance....but is it still preseason? Why would they be resting players?

to ensure they dont get injured...like u said,its pre-season, why play your stars if u dont have to..once they have a few games they should be right for regular season

That and NJ went with mostly a second unit and few travelled for the game. The first units rotations are pretty well set. Its the second units that aren't and they are the ones that need more court time to define their roles and become functional by the seasons start. That and cuts still need to be made and Ainge needs to see these guys in game situation to make a better judgement. Todays game has Rondo and R.Allen but no Perk, KG and Pierce so far. Most of the time one starter at least will have to be out there with the second unit anyway hence the two playing today.

I've seen every game so far bar todays game of course and it all looks good.

Kg if anything has been a little too unselfish but thats not a terrible thing. The ball in Rondo's hands has taken PP's dribble away from him except when he wants to create and get to the line that he does so well. I'd like to see PP and KG play more of a two man game on the post with a pick and roll etc as PP can shoot and drive and the extra pass to Allen works so well. The one thing you notice right away being a Celts fan is the extended time you get on the shot clock with KG on the defensive boards. He gives the ball up so quick and then gets up the floor where we have already the players ahead. Less static ball for the Celts and less chance for PP to get himself in trouble as in the past.

KG has opened up the middle of the lane more for PP rather than him having to work on the wing and create that draws more defensive help. This forces teams to either have to collapse or risk PP on his way to the basket. KG needs to be more of an offensive focal point IMO but in the season I think he will be.

The Celts are going to go to the line a lot with this lineup and that paves the way for decent playoff basketball

That's great to hear! When I sat and analysed what the Celts would be able to do with 3 great players, KG with his all round game, Pierce with his penetration and Allen with his game I think it'll bve a season to really look forward to offensively....

KG has always been a get everyone involved guy, I can seriously see him averaging something like 18/12/6 this year if the decided to run the offence through him a lot....

What about defensively?? KG has always been a top lane defender, often patrolling the top as well as sinking down and offering great help D. The way I see it there's very few good PF's in the east - therefore he should be able to sag onto others.....any obseravtions on D yet Chad??
