Pack Secrets???

Back in the old days when there weren't any jersey or autos yet, I knew people who would stand around a card shop and jump as soon as a new box is opened. They would be friends with the shopkeeper and they would search every pack in the box and run off with the nice inserts. My classmate back in highschool stenciled packs one by one and sold them in my school.

Card companies are getting smarter now to battle thugs like these. The introduction of boxes instead of packs and the dummy card is a good start.

Pack searching is evil and shouldn't be done. Right Trey?

I asked this question because my friend was getting all of these GU and AUTO cards and when I asked him what he did to get the cards, he said he did pack secrets. So I wanted to know if pack secrets were real.

It's not an exact science, but yes, there are examples of it being easier to locate GU/Auto packs - especially GU. Also with current releases (05/06 UD Rookie Debut), which have hotpacks, these should be easier to find (as they only have 4 cards instead of the 6).

As Kidd stated though, card companies are making this more difficult, and I congratulate them for doing so.

Why the big anti against pack searchers?

I mean, it's not like we're buying what they got. Like we're not in a store with them wanting to buy a pack, and they get to em first....

I often wondered tho, these ppl who sell the "Guaranteed Packs" on ebay, what happens if they fuck up???

how can you search packs? i've only ever bought packs from one place, and they had the boxes behind the counter, i told them how many packs and they picked them up for me.

the other cards i have in my collection from the early days i hand picked out of folders at card devoted stores like the Card Shaq.

aqnyone that thinks pack searching is ok, deserves to buy packs from a searched box and pull the packs with crappy inserts and commons.

I still dont understand what the big hatred is from them?

Fair enuff, if you buy packs from a store who's already been thru boxes and boxes searching the goodies out, you're bound to get shit.

Then there's the ones who sell the guaranteed stuff, they making their money, why not?

Oh well.....

Because it realy sucks when you are a kid with not much money and you go to spend your weekly pocket money on a pack of cards you end up getting jack shit (and you don't realise it then but you will only ever get jack shit) because some slimy bastard has felt his way or worse resealed all the packs and taken out all the goodies.

It's happened to me - a fucking slimeball Aussie seller sold me a resealed box of UD Glass .. I thought surely not but yep - the whole thing was resealed! I thought it wasnt possible but i pulled a total of about 2 GU and thats it out of those boxes. Fucking assholes like that should be shot.

And yuo ask why I dont like pack searchers.. god forbid anyone on here admit to doing it ..

I was at the Carribean market (Vic) on the weekend and watched a bloke trying to search packs. The stall owner told him to get stuffed so he left. Anyway I bought some baseball packs off him (without searching) and would you believe it the first pack revealed my first jersey card pull. To top it 0ff, I mainly collect New York Yankees cards and it was a Yankees player.

Very happy indeed.

By the way.
Pulling GU is definately more satisfying than an ebay auction win.
