One of the true Champions calls it a day

After 16 years at the Crows, as the last of the players from the inaugural squad, and indeed one of the very best who have donned the blue, red and gold, champion full back Ben Hart has called it a day.

* 311 games (first crow to play 300 games)
* 2 time Best and Fairest (99, 02)
* Dual premiership player in 97, 98
* 4 time All Australian (92, 93, 99, 02)

The guy was a class act, an absolute champion on and off the field. A round of applause is well deserved for this guy and all he has contributed to the footy club.

fraid so jase, thats the reality of modern footy. he was having a near career best season before the injury too, which makes it even more a pity.

i really think the crows are looking to the future now, weve blooded some great young players this season (porplyzia, knights, douglas, maric), and weve got an excellent middle aged group (johncock, bird man, bock, bode, thompson). not to mention an older leadership group in edwards, roo, macca, goodwin. i think players like roo and macca will be used sparingly next season, the crows will be looking to build the young'ns from now on. well make the 8 next year but wont be going to the GF any time soon.

some how i dont think it was his choice.his father said on the news earlier today he was dissapointed to get sacked,and he thought he had one or 2 more years in him.

Hart was a very solid player and kudos to him on a great career.

anyone to play 300 games is a champion to me and to have those other achivements to his name such as 2 premiership and AA honours he will be remembered as one of Adelaides best!
crows have mastermind 'Neil Craig', and with him at the helm i dont think the crows are about to lose their recent dominance although they may need a ruckman I wouldnt want Spida though , hes kinda like bad luck having him in your team considering he has the worst winning percentage out of anyone ever to play the game i think i heard. lol #-o

Ben Hart was one of great defenders of the 1990's, playing against Ablett, Dunstall, Lockett, Carey, Loewe and Sumich, he really excelled, a super defender, cant say enough good things about one of the best crows of all time, really sad to see him cut from the crows, also heard that Welsh was on the chopping block as well...

on AFL it said Hart is thinking about retiring and voss has called it quits or am i seeing things
