The oldest issue of Cricket cards in Australia is most likely the U.S.A. issued Goodwin's Old Judge series which depicts Australian Celebrities, Politicians and Sporting stars from the day (c1890) - 76 cards known. The cricket issues number 14 of these though there is a known variation of one as well; the George Bonnor card is depicted with a Head & Shoulder image as well as a Head & full torso image. There is also a record of three Anonymous 'Trade' cards, known that depict Dave Gregory, Jack Blackham and George (G.H.) Bailey - the first Tasmanian Test Cricketer which date from the 1880's. The Melbourne Cricket Club Museum also hold a series of early Trade cards that depict the 1884 Australian team that have never been recorded elsewhere, but are magnificent cards also - they had them on display during a recent exhibition celebrating the 'Hidden history of the MCG'.
