Righto, position and such? Hmmm where are the draft capsules
Thaddeus Young Draft Profile
Vital Statistics
Position: F School/Team: Georgia Tech
Height: 6-8 Weight: 217 lbs.
If not for the NBA's new rule requiring players to wait one year after high school before entering the draft, Young likely would have been a high draft pick last year. He ended up at Georgia Tech, where he tied fellow freshman Javaris Crittenton for the team lead with 14.4 points per game. The Yellow Jackets went 20-12, but were knocked out in the first round of the NCAA tournament by UNLV, with Young chipping in only eight points. Young, along with Crittenton, has declared for this year's draft but has not hired an agent. Young, who has said all along that he would consider jumping to the pros if he thought he would be a lottery pick, is likely a mid- to late first-round pick, but Georgia Tech coach Paul Hewitt said that he expects Young to return. Young is a tremendous athlete, but NBA teams are most enamored with his potential. He has room for improvement on his perimeter game, but it is already good. Shot 41.9 percent from the 3-point line this past season. His shot off the dribble, however, needs work. Very quick and explosive for his size, but needs to drive to the basket more often. Could also use more muscle, as he tends to get pushed around too easily. Young is somewhere in between a small and power forward, so he could have trouble finding a position in the NBA. His ballhandling is questionable. He is left-handed, with problems going to his right. Even though he would go high in the draft, Young would probably benefit from another season in college.
