CASE PURCHASE: Important Decision to be made!!!

Hi OCT,

Well to my amazement my fiance (soon to be wife) has given me the go ahead to buy any case of NBA cards i want. I have no idea which one to go for. I was really keen on the new 09-10 SP Signature edition ones but everything i have seen or heard about them has been terrible. So my favorites are now

08-09 Ultimate Collection
08-09 Exquisite
08-09 Spx

Basically i want your opinions on the case you think will have best resale value should i wish to offload cards and the cards you think have the best designs. If you have any other case suggestions as well i am more than happy to hear them.

I was thinking of the hardwood but the problem is i will double up on a lot of things. I will be including a progress metre in my signature soon, but i have all base, all GU /175, 50% of the parallels and 70% of the patches.

I really love the 08/09 exquisite but i'm not sure i am prepared to pay $2k US for 15 cards in a case.

09-10 exquisite!!! You'll get some decent money back if you don't pull any PC cards aswell if you get it when they first drop.

I am leaning towards ultimate at the moment. Simply because they are holding good values, i love the design and i think at $1400 US a case they are good value, but keep the suggestion coming. I am considering everything!

Exquisite doesnt last long enough for mine, it only takes 5 min to bust 2k worth of carrds

I'd go for either:
2008/09 Upper Deck SP Rookie Threads Basketball Hobby 8-Box Case 1235
2007/08 Upper Deck SPx Basketball 10-Box Hobby Case 775
Rookie threads have 1 patch, 2 rookie autos and 11 other hits per box.
The 07/08 SPX isnt as good a rookie class but 77.50 per box is pretty cheap for 10 hits, plus one hot box per case.

none of them!!!! you MUST get 09-10 exquisite...08-09 is dead, pretty much all the hits are gone, you need 09/10 if your going to do exquisite...if you bust 08/09 ill get your future wife to divorce you and marry gheorghe muresan because nobody should be busting 08/09 exquisite anymore.

btw, get your wife to have a chat to my gf so she lets me do that sort of stuff!!

Hey mate, I think you should get a box of Hoops 1989-90. They are really rare these days Lots of firewood.

I think you should go Ultimate too, Exquisite just isnt enough cards for the cash and the risk of pulling little is too great for the ammount of money.

Slobby you are a riot . The only problem with 09-10 exquisite is the rookie class is crap and $2400 US a box is a bit much for what you get me thinks. Hey look if i win div 1 lotto this weekend ill buy you all a box of 09-10 exquisite LOL. Reason i want 08-09 is the rookie class is so good. Plus i am a Rose collector. As for the gf issue, i think the only reason i am getting this case is because i am forking out so much for this frigging wedding LOL. Plus i wear the pants LOL...............................NOT!

gold! your gf finally wore you down hey...im still fighting! i wont give up the pants!!! i understand you reasoning for the 08/09 box...however, no one knew drose was going to be such a standout...$2400 is a sh!tload too...i like the idea of being able to pull a tiger/elway/crosby/gretzky equisite!...either way what ever you get is going to be awesome..cant wait for the break
