ONE man died as crowds clashed with police today when thousands of South Africans scrambled to snap up the remaining tickets for this year's World Cup.

In Cape Town, a pensioner collapsed and died today before the centre opened, and police used capsicum spray on some fans in Pretoria where frustrations flared over the delays.

The first person who got his tickets from the main ticket office in Johannesburg said he had waited 18 hours to get them. This seems very unorganized for such a high priority event!
