Well as they said we 'only' need a draw against Croatia....

The way they played today, we should beat them, but who knows....

We played better than the 2-0 score line....

i thought we played great and defiantly earned the respect of the football world although the score line should of read 1-0. That last goal was just plain unlucky with that deflection. Schwarzer i thought was very brave under alot of pressure, coming off his line as much as he did and making some big saves. It could of stayed a draw but against Brazil if you lapse for 1 minute they will make you pay. Now it all comes down to Croatia who havent looked that flash with a terrible miss from a penalty in the Jap game , and are still yet to register a goal in this World Cup. I think Guss has set us up for this match, taking off Cahill in the 55th minute with the yellow. The aussies will have a full strength team next game and will not hold back with quite a few players having yellow cards. Just making the 2nd round would be a massive effort for Australia and i think it will happen.

I thought our backline was sensational with the likes of Neill, Moore, Chipperfield who made some great tackles. But soccer is soccer and we had our chances and should make ammends against Croatia.

My only worryis brazil may not play a full strength team against japan since they are already through, they may not play those with yellow cards as well as a few important players such as kaka and ronaldinho to prevent any injuries. this may well ean Australia have to win against Croatia to go through

At this level Im sure the Brazillian bench could have an impact against Japan.. As for yellow cards im pretty sure it resets after the first round so players with yellows dont have much to worry about... Aussies are looking the goods!

Luckily, I recorded this match because it is quite an exciting game.

IMO, Ronaldinho hasn't been at his best so far in the World Cup. I know he will do better, hopefully from the next game onwards.

Ronaldo played much better last night. He was involved a lot more than the game against Croatia. Did you see the bruise or gash he received from that challenge from Grella? Geez, he was lucky to escape a card there.

Ze Roberto was a rock at the deep midfield position for Brazil and Lucio was magnificent with his forward runs, for a defender. And who can forget about Kaka, who showed some clean heels, tricky moves, forward runs and beating some of our Socceroo defenders. He looked very dangerous once again but luckily, his deadly shooting accuracy wasn't with him last night.

Emerton, Lucas Neill deserves some praise for their performances. I couldn't believe that sitter Harry Kewell had to equalise but these things happens. Bresciano was getting picked on badly by the ref, IMO and that midfielder (I forgot his name), who started the game, played really well too, I was impressed by his runs on the wing.

Anyway, I'm sure this game will give us Aussies some inspirations to do well against Croatia and I believe we can win and go through the second round, which will be an amazing achievement. But I still think Brazil are one or two step(s) ahead of us. Watch out for Argentina too.

I thought the Socceroos played well but I am the sort of bloke who doesn't accept any loss. A loss is not good enough in my books! Thought they could have beaten the champs! I don't buy this attitude of we played well against the champs - I think our attitude should be.. lets kill Croatia then use what we learned from Brazil to win the cup! I think they can do it - honestly lol

As most have said Brazil, were definatley a little flattered by the result and we can only wonder "what if", had we taken our chances. Even with the two goals scored, I think our defence was superb. The second goal was simply due to us pushing forward and their first had Adriano weave the ball through Chippers legs before scoring. To be fair our FC Basel star had a good game and was forced to play way out of his natural position after Popovic went off. Our other Basel player in Sterjovski had a good game too.

At least we made Brazil pick up the pace in the second half to get the win. They seemed to almost play a basketball style "half - three quarter court press", not pressuring our defenders and midfielders much at all in the first half. This shows their arrogance/confidence which alowed many of our boys to settle. From what I have seen so far, imo Brazil will NOT win this years cup. They looked much hungrier in 02

Backline was sensational, bad luck boys. Despite the loss i think the scoreline doesnt really tell the tale. Although a little more class the Brazilians have we had our fair share of shots on Goal.

if we can play with that much defensive intensity as we showed against brasil, we will be going to the round of 16 easy! the croats have not impressed much at all this WC, and we have more to play for. this is going to be the biggest game in oz football history, the boys will be PUMPED, the fans will be going NUTS, if our forwards can capitalise on the opportunities presented to them, we can match it with any side, any day, anywhere.

Friday Night thats gunna be topps for me. Im going to see Coldplay and then maybe hit the casino and return home and watch us kick some croatian ass. Coldplay and Socceroos WC Fate in one night, im lovin it

I dont think we will have a problem defensivily but we need to get some goals. I mean Kewell missed two sodas, bresciano had a paddick to work with and blew it so we need to make the most of the chances we get.

They all can kick goals, they just need to get in postition to do so.

Legendary Croatian Captain Kovac will miss the game due to his red card in the Japan match which will give us even better odds in advancing to the final 16. Japan is ranked 18 in the world lol that's even better than Germany and they have podolski, klose and ballack in their lineup
Croatia is 23 or something so their is no reason with all the support they got in Germany and from home as well as one of the top 4 coaches in the world not to beat Croatia....

Nice write-ups boys and girls! Alas I was celebrating end of exams by drinking beer from noon, then his the pub for more beer, then took that beer and hit the dance floor for 3 hours! Went to a mates place to get ready to watch the soccer at another pub, but by 9 I was done and dusted! Watched Sammy Newman "punch/push" a guy in the face on the fotty show, and then turned all the lights off! In other words it was a big night, with no Aussie glory for me!

Oh well I woke up in time for the Heat to beat the Mavs and it allowed me to stay in bed for another 3 hours!

yeah great game was played..i was hitting the ground alot. i am still dissapointed in parts of their defence.

They leave men loose of about 3 metres....WHY????? the brazil team and japan's also, stood their man....stuck to them. So why do the aussies think they can leave them loose.

1st goal - three defenders on Ronaldo...what the? max of 2, the other one could been pn the loose scorer.
