Artest to Lakers

The weirdest thing about this is there's reports Houston offered Ariza 5.8 a season over our 5.6. Is that really enough incentive to leave a Championship team? Ariza is only as good as he is now having played side by side with one of the greatest, how far does everyone think he'll go leaveing? Makes no sence, only conclusion I can draw is management were'nt fussed knowing this. Watch what Ron does playing next to his Idol. ;)

If it ain't broken, don't fix it.

That's a good motto to live by but they've always upgraded after a Championship, there's always going to be changes.

It's now official:

Lakers get Artest; Ariza agrees with Rockets - Los Angeles Times

Crazy Ron $18m over 3 yrs
Ariza $33m over 5 yrs (same offer as the Lakers )

More than happy with that 'trade'! Mitch Cupcake does it again!! =D>

Ouch!! How about a thanks for giving me a ring...don't let the door hit you on the a@@ on the way out you ungrateful #$@$:mad:

Ariza's agent, David Lee, said the 24-year-old forward passed up a more lucrative contract offer from another team with salary-cap space. "We decided to go with Houston anyway," Lee said. "It was never about the money. It was about going someplace where you felt appreciated."

Welcome Ron Artest! =D>

And farwell to The RZA. Was good having him on board, watching him develop into a vital peice of the team, but if you bring in Artest where would he fit? Also I'm reading that Ron was never option B, Lakers (Well Mitch) got what he wanted, again. :worthy:

Odom and Artest go way back as childhood friends, LO and TA were close but I'm sure he'll welcome this move. Now get LO LOCKED! Kobe and Ron are close, Kobe and Pau are close. Teams are about Brotherhood as much as they are chemistry...

Oh, and he proved me wrong...

Sorry Trevor, but don't you think you owe the team some for how well you've progressed and the position you're in now? Go to Houston, see where it get's you. At the end of the day it's a business and Ariza needs to get paid. I understand that. But cutting your nose off, dispite your face? Wow.

David Lee is a tool and has been bad mouthing management publicly for sometime now trying to goad them into committing more money. You'd think the money was going to Lee, well all of it in this case.

Reminds me of Tyron Lue all over again...

Reminds me of Tyron Lue all over again...

I know he got one with us over Phili but I don't remember the details there? That was the season Fish went down with an injury and he stepped in. Funny, if he went where there was more money and thought he was worth more elsewhere, great, but I can't remember the last thing Lue did that was so great after leaving the Lakers. Hang on, he got to play with Michael...

Well next season sure is going to be an interesting ride. Really not sure how he will fit with LA. But if (a big if i know) he can hold it together and they resign Odem....the Bulls 72 win record looks shaky.......and life sucks just a little bit more :)

Love your unbiased honesty. ;)

Just came accross this, had to post it...

A nice little read, and Video on the same day that Artest "Verbally" Agreed to Lakers...

Havnt made a comment bout this just needed a little time to think about what this means to the Lakers of 09-10...

Possible Starting Line-Up of:

Gasol, Bryant, Odom/Bynum, Artest, Fisher.....

Man how good will that be to see!!!!

But only if they Re-Sign Lamar!!!Which now that The RZA is gone is a huge possibility!!!

I personaly think that he will and should stay!!!

Would have liked to see them move Morrison and Sasha or both!!!But who would really want their Huge Contracts!!!??

Kobe and Artest go way back so i think that this "TRADE" or SIGNING will work in our favour!!!

I'm not a huge fan of the way things have worked out i have to say. I really have no idea why the Lakers wanted to take (Crazy) Artest over Ariza anyway? Didnt Ariza work? Who came up with the big steals in the playoffs and who drained the 3's?

Artest is a good player but how will he survive with only 10 shot attempts pg? Ariza was really fitting in well and i could see him spreading his wings with us next season. Even when he cam off the bench he helped us heaps.

My question now is, ok if our starting line up is Fish, Kobe, Artest, Gasol and Bynum....apart from LO coming off the bench where r our energy players? Ariza, Ronny and Brown have been our 3 biggest energy lifters off the bench when LO started but now with Ronny and Ariza gone i think our bench will be to thin if we get into foul trouble or if someone goes down injured.

That is the biggest concern. What if they actually went out on a limb and started Walton? Artest/Odom of the bench - The 'Change the Game' Motto is still in effect. Mind you, Walton starting doesn't necessarily mean 30 plus minutes a night. They'll mix it up like they did all season long and Artests Signing/LO's return may not be the end of the dealings... hopefully there's more to come. But in saying losing Ariza, gaining Artest means we have less depth, it only depends on how you look at it. I see no difference personally. We haven't really lost anything yet.

Ronny as in Ronny Turiaf?

Because he's been gone for a long time and the Lakers won the ring without him - so there is really no need to mention him at all.

Yes Ariza is gone, but hopefully Shannon Brown can fill in for him a bit. A championship isn't lost by one player, and by losing one player, even if he is key - there is definately ways the Lakers can negate this loss.

ron will be a solid addition just so long as he doesnt get into all the crap he normally gets himself into... to his credit though, he kept his nose clean and out of trouble in houston...

the major question with the addtion is, how well will he gel/mesh with the other guys? in other words, team chemistry... ariza really meshed well when he arrived and provided the team with the niche it needed when they acquired him
