Having read the latest news on Ben Cousins I am not sure if the WCE jumped in too quick........The possession charge has dropped but they still found a $20 not with traces of cocane and other illegal drugs on it. He also refused a drug test which he is STILL being charged for !!!

What do you guys think, did the WCE do the right thing ???

They did the right thing, the fact he refused a drug test and got in more trouble with the law is all they were waiting for. He should have just taken the test, but he probably would still have been sacked. he made his bed, now he lies in it.

I'm honestly a bit of a fence-sitter on this one. They should have sacked him after his previous episodes ... reckon they should have waited until more info was available on this one.

He was probably scared shi*less when he got pulled up thinking he'd be in the poo for his prescription drugs, and we all know what a good decision-maker Cousins is in the heat of the moment off the footy field!

he should have been sacked or banned the first time.any other sport he would of been banned.as an example look at shane warne 2 years for taking a diet pill.and there are lots more stories of top paid sports people who have been banned for the same sort of offences.why is cousins any better than them.
tony :D

Personally I think he has been advised (by legal council) to not perform any tests when he knows he will get done (In the hope he can get off without any actual evidence).

There's no doubt in my mind that the Weagles acted appropriately in sacking Cousins.
Irrespective of the possess prescription drug charge being withdrawn, the charge of failing to submit to a drug test charge remains.
My understanding is that West Coast have counselled Cousins in the past about his failure to abide by Police directions, and that his further (alleged) breach was the last straw.
West Coast have done the right thing by the Club ad by Cousins. He clearly needs some time away from the pressure of football to address his personal issues.

Well not only based on his actions, but it would seem under his revised contract he was advised to not associate with characters who are associated with illegal activities, whether that be underworld figures or the like.

Now the gentleman who was with them (Chick & Cousins) was charged with being in possession of a range of illegal substances, and he has claimed they were not his, now if they werent his...and the only other people in his company were Cousins and Chick well it would seem just a little odd to me or coincidental more to the point.

So whether coincidental or reality, he is still, on top of not adhering to police instructions, being in possession of a prescribed medicine without a prescription as well as the issue mentioned above.

Now personally i agree with others his sorry arse for the benefit of the Game, the AFL and the WCE football club should have been sacked months ago, and now they have duly taken the action that was to serve all parties.

Yep. Doesn;t matter if he broke the law or not, he violated his contract agreements by not abiding by the rules and keeping a low and spotless profile = Bye Bye

Well my thougts have been confirmed......the WCE did the right thing in sacking Ben Cousins. I wonder if he will ever play again ? Either way he dug this grave himself, the cops may have stuffed up on his possession charge but that doesn't mean people should feel sory for him - Not that many would I suspect !

I just feel sorry for him with the media circus. I mean they did like a breaking report on it the other day as if it was the Beaconsfield Mine disaster or something of that ilk! How many people would be getting done for drugs a day do you reckon? Who gives if it is a footballer or not.

Stupidest media hype since the news story a few months back 'Shapelle Corby has her birthday is jail and her family come to visit'. Well big Woop. I mean seriously, WTF

I said yes being a diehard Eagle supporter, but it was an unfortunate way to happen for the club and for him.

Whether or not the Eagles have acted to hastily with this fresh batch of police troubles to many is inconsequential; the majority of people out there thought he should have never been let back into the AFL without any real ban.

I reckon he will play again; whether it be WAFL, VFL, SANFL or AFL remains to seen.

Haha, imagine if the AFL allow him back for the psd and Carlton pick him up. Judd would prob not be a very happy man! :D

Yep...did the right thing. There is no doubt he is a gun footballer....but the AFL is more than just footy now days!!

Yeah i think they did. That whole innocent until proven guilty shit is out the door. So he got pulled over by the cops?. Yeah havent we all. He had prescription drugs, and a junkie ballbag like cousins shouldnt have any kind of drugs and obviously he didnt get them from a doctor but wheres the proof?.

The Eagles sacked Cousins because he didn't submit to the drug test the cops asked him too, not because of the drug charge. Yes the cops stuffed the charge up, not the first time that has happened, but It's about the 3rd or 4th time Cousins has failed to co-operate with police and that is what annoys the Eagles and the AFL.
