What's your guys input on shows that were canceled too son - must be 3 seasons or less.

Some I can think of are..

Traveler - A whole 8 Episodes :(
Dark Angel - 2 Seasons
Respectable - 6 half hour episodes (Creator/Writer died however)

Edit: Woops..... suppose this should be in entertainment eh!? :-k

A comedy on commercial TV. Think it was 9. Called Norm. Man I liked that show! I don't know if it even lasted a season...

Did they show Invisible Man here in Australia in the early 2000? They showed it in NZ when I was there but I just saw a few episodes. It was a good one...

Arrested Development
Greg the Bunny
Fawlty Towers (not sure if it was canned or not but it only lasted 12 eps)
The Office (UK version; ditto only lasted about 12 eps)

Fawlty Towers wasnt canned, but only a small team of writers, they ran out of ideas, similar to THe Young Ones, that was only 12 eps aswell

Arrested Development

I second that.

That was a great show; It went a little strange at the end, but I think thats because they knew they were going to be cancelled, and they had to tie up the stories in about 13 episodes.

  • Black Books (only 3 seasons and 18 eps; dont know if it was cancelled or Dylan Moran didnt wanna keep going with it)
  • Futurama (only 4 seasons; never actually cancelled, but no new eps have ever been asked for by Fox. They are currently making some straight to DVD movies tho)

The British shows are usually short run as the BBC tend not to give long-term financing for shows (since is it government funded rather than private enterprise).

Also the writers and actors tend to move on to new projects at the top rather than continue to cash in at the expense of quality.

Same thing happened to Blackadder (4 seasons - 24 eps) and Ab Fab (5 seasons)

One show I've watched recently that I thought should have continued was Threat Matrix. It only lasted 16 episodes (only 14 eps shown in the US) before getting canned.

Yep, it has happened with lots of British comedy shows; good idea I reckon, get out on top rather than watch the show slide back to the pack... On that note, Red Dwarf still had 8 seasons, with a total of 50 episodes, thats a lot for a British comedy show.

Red Dwarf is great :D

The writers want to do a movie now or continue with Series 9, but are struggling to find the funding as the BBC are unwilling to continue it :(

Another show that decided to go out on top was Iron Chef, but they had way over 100 episodes in their time - they just wanted to go out on top!

Arrested Development... quirky humor, similar to that of Boston Legal (hope that sticks around - real funny show)

I think a big factor in Iron Chef demise was that is wasn't all that popular in Japan where it is made...it was the rest of the world (with the translated version) that made it popular.

Arrested Development

Oh for sure! One of my favourite shows all-time. Cut down in it's prime..

And I think I remember watching one of the commentaries on the UK Office and Ricky Gervais said they only wanted to do 12 eps and they put everything in that they had intended, something like that. Hopefully Extras lasts a few more years.

Wow..... was Fawlty Towers only 12 eps?? Seemed like a lot more for some reason..... but definitely yes - bloody brilliant show that!!

What about Don't Forget Your Toothbrush.

Hahahaha yes... I used to love that show; I always will remember when the first season ended they said they were coming back........ never did!

Love The Iron Chef, that show is unreal, it has a special attraction to it that made it so good to watch for me. The Americans tried, but failed miserably
