Regal Trading Cards Signing Information

Received my cards and generally speaking i think regal have done a great job but there is one exception that I think may only effect my card based on what i have seen but would like to hear more experienced collectors thoughts on this if in my situation what they would do and also give regal a chance to provide an explanation.

It appears as if the card was first signed with a pen then signed with a marker over the top which is disappointing given this is supposed to be a premium card and didn't come cheaply. If you look in the loop of the G in graeme, also a bit on top of the rae and possibly between the g and the l in langlands.

Wow that doesn't look good at all, looks like anyone could of traced over that sig.

I would be disappointed if I received this for $250 plus post

Wow you can too see the tracing, so sorry to hear that you've been ripped off mate. It's sad but I guess you get that with bootleg cards.

These guys would've easily made over $5,000 in profit 'From the collectors' from these, it's a real shame they didn't have much QC or did they know and were hoping that no one would know?

Hi Richard,

Firstly, thank you for buying the card.

We can categorically state that the only person to touch these cards with a pen is Graeme Langlands.

All cards were signed, left to dry and then placed directly into protective cases. One thing we did notice is that the quality of his signature and how he signs has diminished a bit over time (his health issues would also add to this) and he did mention to us at the time of signing that he was having some issues fitting his signature in the area of the card with such a long name.

We can 100% guarantee that he alone has signed the card and his signature has not been traced over.

I would get in touch with Footycards.com.au and talk to them about it if you are not happy?

Im sure they will be able to take this up on your behalf?

Regal Trading Cards - For the Collector
still it does not change the fact that clearly this has been traced over we need a big please explain here.
How could you let this go need boost the quality control on these cards that is poor form.

Are Regal and Footycards.com.au related in business or two different and separate businesses? I thought both being in Melbourne they might have a connection.

I'm not convinced that it has actually been traced over. Given how erratic his signature is, if it was traced, I would expect to see much more of the original outline, likely square tipped felt pen.

Why would he need to trace is own signature?

Ross
I think you are spot on Ross, he is 74 and has poor health, I'm sure his signing would not be as smooth as you or me signing our names.

To Me it looks like he signed it in pen to see if it was going to fit on the card and then went over with it a marker. For them to say he is the only one who touched the card is not good enough as it is not of the quality a $250.00 card should be at.

I know I wouldn't be happy with that card.

Thanks for the advice so far guys, still happy to hear from others though I'm not a huge sig collector like many of you on here. i will contact footycards and see what they can do about it. I don't necessarily think it's traced as such almost looks like he signed it with a pen first to see it would fit (especially given what regal has said that he had some issues with spacing) then signed over it (rather then traced) with the marker, granted there are some wobbles but i figure that is down to age as most seem to have this, but when looking at the card in person those markings in the first name seem to be a different texture/ colour more consistent with a pen then a marker compared with the rest of the sig. Hopefully no one else has received a similar problem.

not sure if it's traced or not as i dont have the card but on previous experience when watching norm provan and arthur beetson signed cards, the signatures over time weren't as clean as others, this was also because their hands also started to become shaky as well (possibly from medication/age). based on the photos it looks as though this might of been the case for graeme aswell

The guy is now mid 70's and is in poor health because of the accident that happened many years ago. Here is an excerpt from a story done in I think 2009?

Langlands, 68, has been unable to work since the fall, with shoulder and back injuries often leaving him bed-ridden.
He also suffers extreme headaches and friends have become increasingly concerned at his frequent memory lapses. He has been unable to work at his company.

Again, one thing a lot of people dont realise is that a lot of these old players are getting on in age.

Provan had a bad fall and probably wont sign anything again close to what you know his signature looks like and a lot of the other players either through age or even hitting the booze hard gives them the shakes.

As I mentioned above, If Richard isnt happy get in contact with Footycard who he bought it from and im sure they will sort something out.

But people claiming that he has been ripped off and that its "obviously" been traced over is going a bit too far.
