Official 2011-2012 Playoff thread

i agree...boston have played well and really have exceeded what i thought they would do with a limited bench and ageing group...but garnett and rondo have carried them...your right about pierce, have you ever seen such a whiney little punk? never looks happy and is always s***ty about something, maybe he doesnt get enough at home or something???...lol...i dont know...

Dwyane Wade

that is all

Wow. I felt sick when Miami lost game 5 I been feeling sick the last 2 days thinking about it, I been feeling sick all day wondering what happened, but refusing to spoil it for myself. I knew this game was going to be epic, I knew it will either fill me with hope for a game 7 win. Or make make me feel sick at the thought of another years worth of lebron bashing....

But man he turned it on!!! Im so freaking happy right now that I might go do some celebration tequila shots in my kitchen!

LET'S GO HEAT! GET GAME 7!!!

Just finished watching the game and have to say I've never seen the fire/deternination I saw in Bron in that one! I didn't see a single smile or laugh just pure competitor from start to finish. I reckon that 3 pointer in his face by Pierce in game 5 made him snap, he was giving face all game.

Boston need to pray that that Bron doesn't show up on Sunday.

Hater's gonna hate. Potatoes gonna potate.

Ha ha, LAME!!!!

I actually used to love Lebron, at the Cavs. I was shattered when he left. Of course, he's allowed to do what he wants, but I like guys that stick it out in the good and the bad. He's done sooooo many things that has annoyed me since.

He's a phenomenal player. It will be interesting to see how many rings he does end up with someday.

How people whinge about Pierce's whingeing baffles me. He's a gun. The guy gets it done without ever having the athleticism that other guys have. Has stuck it out through the rough times at Boston and got his ring. I'd like to see him get 1 more.

Here's to a HUGE game 7. Hopefully it's a great game.

wow, lebron killed it today. monster. but bloody hell boston, had the perfect chance to make the finals in front of the home crowd, now we have game 7 in miami. looking forward to it though!

and man i love okc, that team is just so humble, i love them, hope they win title

You can't be serious about there being "any bad officiating going on there"??? Where you said "possibly the foul on WB against Parker".... there is no 'possibly' about it! Watch it 100 times, there is NO contact at all! It was just the way Westbrook turned for the shot and fell to his a$$. Otherwise, there was:

9:33 - Ibaka moving screen not called
9:15 - Duncan moving screen IS called??
8:19 - Manu called for a charge on KD where Durant was sliding sideways - AND one ref called it an and1, but was overridden by the other ref to make it a charge! Benefit should ALWAYS go to the offensive player!
6:56 - Foul called on Leonard which put Westbrook to the line for 2 FT's even though Leonard was nowhere near the play!
6:36 - KD swings his arms at Jacksons already positioned arm and gets a foul call??? 2 FT's
5:13 - Westbrook runs into Jackson and HOLDS HIM while trying to screen KD around him - Jackson called for the foul and 2 FT's
2:46 - The aforementioned foul on Westbrook by Parker!
2:35 - Perkins moving screen using his forearm to push out! - The same call went against Manu at the other end and waved off a Leonard 3!

There were a few other calls that went against SA as well as some that went against OKC that were debatable, but in most games they can go either way.

I made that list at the risk of sounding like a bitter, sore loser Spurs fan, but at the end of the day, I knew that OKC were advancing after Game 5! The Spurs lost their lead on their own in the 3rd quarter, but the above calls helped make sure they didn't get back in the game!

In saying all this, I am genuinely happy for you to have your team in the finals again mate, and I will be gunning for them to win it all!!

Ughhhhhh man....... I quoted each instance above and gave my say and then copied it and was gonna post here, but what did I do!? I decided to copy something else from your post BEFORE I pasted that didn't I!? :)

So...... with that in mind, I will make it quick lol

9:33 - Ibaka moving screen not called
9:15 - Duncan moving screen IS called??

Duncans was more obvious.

6:56 - Foul called on Leonard which put Westbrook to the line for 2 FT's even though Leonard was nowhere near the play!

This foul was changed to Manu, as per the commentators who mentioned it later in the game. Which was the correct call.

6:36 - KD swings his arms at Jacksons already positioned arm and gets a foul call??? 2 FT's

Not sure how this is called now, last year you would have gotten two shots at the line, but this year it was changed to be just a standard foul, only reason he got two shots is because they were in the bonus.

Westbrook runs into Jackson and HOLDS HIM while trying to screen KD around him - Jackson called for the foul and 2 FT's

The ref that called it was behind and hence could only see Jackson holding Durant.

2:35 - Perkins moving screen using his forearm to push out! - The same call went against Manu at the other end and waved off a Leonard 3!

Guess ref thought it was a flop!?

At the end of the day all games have bad and missed calls, it's the nature of the game. Also don't forget we get the luxury of instant replay, slow mos etc, the refs have to call it as they see it.

In saying all this, I am genuinely happy for you to have your team in the finals again mate, and I will be gunning for them to win it all!!

Thanks dude! :hearts:

time to re-post these, great vids I just find it odd Lebron and Durant leaning on each other standing up to stretch lol
Thanks for that man, i'd seen the first one but not the others.
Crazy how small Durant looks when next to Lebron. Great to see the hard work these guys put in, we never get to see this side of professional athletes

Just finished watching today's game and... W O W ! ! !
Lebron simply put on a game for the ages. And for the haters...
That's what you call 'clutch'.

If lebron ever went 4 for 18 w/9 points and 3 turnovers on a close out game.
(yes that's Paul Pierce's stat line) this thread would just be full of 'lebron bashing'
I seriously hope the dude gets his ring this year so all the haters
can just get off the dudes back and appreciate what he does for the game.

Those vids were awesome. Great drills for the coaches out there to take note of.

"Clutch" is defined as the last 2 mins of a game where the scores are within 3 I think??? (may not be exact).

Lebrons average in elimination games is awesome.

He made that game yesterday look like those vids above of the shooting drills.Great job in posting them Matt.

Paul Pierce is'nt Lebron James. PP does'nt have chosen 1 tatooed on his back. PP did'nt have a HUGE super party where himself, Ray Ray and K.G sat on a stage and said they'd win not 1, not 2, not 3 etc. Pierce has always been at All Star level. Lebron has ALWAYS been at superstar level. You can't really compare the 2 when Pierce has a bad game.

Pierce needs to give at least a solid 20 pts, same with K.G and Ray and Rondo need to contribute for the Celts to have a chance tomorrow. I'm hoping for a tight intense game and hopefully some proper "clutch" down the stretch from either team really. You can't beat someone getting bashed and then coming back and stepping up.Hopefully it's game of the year.

The definition of term 'clutch' is to perform under pressure. Not necessarily pertaining to just the last minutes of a game.

Regardless of what lebron does off the court (tattoos, the 'decision, the celebration etc) the unfair criticism he recieves
shouldnt transcend to what he does on the court (as being a 'choker')

Yes Pierce is not on the same level as Lebron, but to be regarded as one of the top celtic players of all time and to have
a game like that to close out the series?! Cmon now.

And apart from that monster 3 pointer in game 5, he did jack s#!t then too...
