It probably goes without saying that things are moving at a breakneck pace around Panini America HQ these days. A slew of products are in various stages of development, production and release; meanwhile there’s an all-hands-on-deck approach to two huge events looming in the next few weeks: The National Sports Collectors Convention and the NBA Rookie Photo Shoot.

We’ll have more on both of those marquee events — as well as plenty of previews on upcoming releases such as 2014 Prestige Football and 2013-14 Preferred Basketball — right here on The Knight’s Lance in the coming days. But today, we’re focused on a quite limited product that will arrive in hobby shops tomorrow: 2013-14 Spectra Basketball.

How limited is the debut edition of Spectra Basketball? That’s a rhetorical question, but suffice it to say that we could get our hands on just two boxes of it for the purposes of this Teaser Gallery. Although each box of 2013-14 Spectra Basketball promises to include eight cards, it actually delivers 12, including five autograph memorabilia cards and two memorabilia cards. A poignant mix of vibrant colors, striking designs and Optichrome technology promise to make Spectra Basketball one of the most memorable releases of the season.

You can find out for yourself beginning tomorrow. Until then, though, whet your appetite with this Teaser Gallery that takes you card-by-card through two quick boxes.

I'm interested to know what the numbering is on this stuff.

If the Greens are /5 then they're in trouble, they don't look as good as the other colours.

Either way, not enough of this impresses me.

The Lebron looks cool though.

Green #/199
Blue #/65
Red #/25
Gold #/10
Black #/1

Not overly impressed as a whole. I think I'm in chrome overload.

I agree. It's classic panini tho - last year they went crazy on acetate, this year on chrome. They'll accidentally stumble on something nice next year and then flog that to death also
