Voters on NFL.com have made their choice. Running back Alfred Morris of the Washington Redskins is the Pepsi Max NFL Rookie of the Week for games played on December 30, the NFL announced today. Morris rushed for 200 yards on 33 carries and scored three touchdowns in a 28-18 win over the Dallas Cowboys.
Morris was selected from among five finalists through fan votes on NFL.com. The other finalists were linebacker Zach Brown of the Tennessee Titans, linebacker Vontaze Burfict of the Cincinnati Bengals, wide receiver T.Y. Hilton of the Indianapolis Colts and quarterback Russell Wilson of the Seattle Seahawks.
After the regular season, five players will be nominated for Pepsi MAX NFL Rookie of the Year honors. Fans can vote for the winner on NFL.com throughout the month of January. The Pepsi MAX NFL Rookie of the Year will be announced at the second annual “NFL Honors” awards show in New Orleans on Saturday, February 2, the night before Super Bowl XLVII.
In conjunction with the 2012 Pepsi Max NFL Rookie of the Week promotion, Panini America produces virtual trading cards of each week’s five nominees and a virtual card for each week’s winner.
