Advice on NBA Packs and Boxes: Ask your questions here!

In my head im saying inserts
but you cant go wrong with auto's...
Its just so hard to tell whether UD, Panini or topps which is better i dont want to pay top dollar and walk out with a Volvo LMAO

My first box was a 2007/08 Upper Deck Hobby box (east exclusive). It was $69.99 plus post. On average you get 1 auto and 2 GU.
I pulled my 1 auto 2 GU and was lucky enough to get an extra hit which was an Alonzo Mourning 3 colour patch.

Here is a west one: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/2007-08-...84?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_15&hash=item4845dea010

The east and west are the same its just that the East box has Jordan on the box and East exclusive Jordan inserts (usually 2-3 a box). While the West box has Durant on the box and the West exclusive Durant inserts (which are RC's and usually are 2-3 a box).

Hope this helped!

Looking to get back into collecting. I just had a look at the Past & Present cards as advices above and jeez they are ugly! Great inserts but just ugly cards IMO.

What's everyone's opinion on the 2009/10 Panini Season Update box? Looks value for a new starter? Are there any redemptions? If so, have they expired?

The redemptions would be expired but are fairly rare. Another thing I can tell you they are packed with Lakers cards. Most/all of your jersey cards will be of Lakers players.
So a good box for value and for a Laker fan.

Massive turn off right there... hahaha

Any alternate suggestions? Around $80 (+ postage) or below?

That is a little bit of an older box but something you could go for is 2010/11 Panini Classics: http://www.dacardworld.com/sports-cards/2010-11-panini-classics-basketball-hobby-box or a cheaper alternative: http://www.dacardworld.com/sports-cards/2010-11-panini-season-update-basketball-hobby-box

Hope this helped a bit!

Both season update products are value for money for sure!

On the 4th of July DACARDWORLD was selling them for $34

That 2010/11 Panini Classics Basketball Hobby Box looks pretty sweet! Might pick myself up one of them. Thanks!

Edit: Actually those Season Update cards do looks pretty nice too! Might get a box of them to start off with then

Hey all,

I'm bored of collecting 2009/10 Upper Deck basketball, it's not the most exciting product. Could you recommend another product that is exciting with a good chance of hits (patches, jerseys, auto's, low # etc).

Willing to pay up to $150-ish a box. I would like to stay away from the 5 cards per box products but will give one or two a try.

I have been looking into getting some Panini Prestige and Threads hobby boxes, are they any good?

Cheers,

Justin

Hey all, new to posting here, but been a member for a lil bit.

Looking back into collecting (tried when i joined this site, but my financial situation took a hit, but is on the up and up again). Was just looking for some advice on what you guys think would be the best to start off with as i havent collected since i was 10 haha. Im looking for a decent base, but also some good hits too.
Also, where do you guys get your boxes from? Im from NSW, and we dont have anything at all, which blows! i was lookin at DACW, i assume they are reliable...

Oh, prob looking at spending 100-200 per box.

Any feedback is appreciated. Cheers
