The Official 2020 TLA NRL Traders thread.

Imagine a world where there was only one product in each release instead of starter packs and hobby/ retail etc and was only sold in newsagents at the same price per pack for everyone whether you brought 4 cases or 4 packs ?
What you would have is a more stable market with cards holding value .
Maybe the extra money TLA would make from not discounting product they could re-invest in chasing big name autos and cover the return cost for redemptions. Cause atm the postage is more then some of the redemptions are worth 🤦‍♂️
And as for the secrecy issue with everything , could someone tell them they aren’t Apple or Samsung and no one is waiting in line for 2 days or talking about their product on the tv or radio . In a country where league isn’t even the biggest sport it would probably be in their best interest to flog the marketing campaign as early as possible .
Another idea would be to sell through the jrlfc canteens on a Saturday like they did in the 90s.
There’s a couple of hundred kids at each ground so a huge market to chase and maybe bring new collectors into the future as kids aren’t going into newsagents these days like years ago either .
In 2013 my son was and still is coaching junior league in tha Parramatta District. On presentation day i put together 17 traders folders with complete sets together for the children in his team. After they all received their trophys i gave them a folder each. They thought it was christmas. Each picking their favourite player, and who they wanted to play like. Now 7 years later,i know most of these young men are still involved in rugby league, but sadly not collecting rugby league cards. It it really up to people like myself in a small way,and every other nrl collector on this forum and other forums to keep the dream alive.

We didn't receive any with deliveries today, next delivery day from ovato who distribute to newsagents is Thursday so offical launch day

Being in a small country town I don't sell a lot of cards but any kids that buy any I give a few penny sleeves and a top loader to and tell them if they find anything numbered to put it in to protect it. Most of them bring back doubles and I trade them what they need, same with lower end inserts usually trade everything so they can at least put their favourite team insert sets together. Have a couple eagerly awaiting this release.
One of the reasons I am so disappointed in tnp and this years cricket release, I had a few kids coming in from the start of the wbbl season in October asking when cricket cards would be out. Hard enough to get them interested but when it is now 6 months later and no one has yet got their hands on any you can understand why they lose interest.

Yeah I did something similar with the 2017 traders . Had that many base sets spare I gave all the players a set , and like you said they were wrapped .

Junior Paulo Authentic Gold signatures has just surfaced on ebay.... think some might have got the release early?

I wouldn't be surprised to see some more cards start to surface soon!
