2014/15 A-league cards?

Yep they are all at Cardzone, I think one of the reasons why they didn't make it to newsagencies was that it was easy to pack search the boxes for auto's and inserts.
After a quick search I saw he was the only place selling cases but with so many still available thought the price might have been a bit cheaper than what he is charging.

I think if you call him you may get the old line, I don't have many left...you better grab one quickly before they all sell out.

Does anyone have any more news? I looked around today and couldn't find them.

Hi mate,

I know that quite a bit of stock was sent to newsagents last week and from what I understand the A League has bought up a heap of stock to give out to juniors.

Ill see if I can get a checklist.

Cheers
Matt

They had 3 boxes at the newsagency at Kingsway SC in Perth. Grabbed a box and we are working through in now. Lots of packs with the same cards, but will post a checklist of what we got later tonight.

Cheers

I was looking forward to this set, even though it was a rush job. The box break was very disappointing. Of the 260 cards, only 85 were 'originals' the rest (175) were double ups. That works out to something like 33% original, and 67% doubles - 1:2 ratio.

Some of the double up counts were dreadful - 15 Tommy Oar (Socceroos) cards, 8 Joshua Rose (Mariners) cards.the Socceroos double ups were the worst, a total of 42.

It looks like 10 cards per A-league teams, 10 Matildas and we got 12 Socceroos 'originals'.

Certainly you don't get a full base set in a box, as there were only 2 Sydney FC cards, and no Adelaide or Melbourne City cards!!!

As this is a Glory house we were happy to get 9 of them, so that was a plus, and the insides of the packs seems to have this plastic protective wrapping which is also a nice feature.

So will still post the list later tonight but thought I would give you a quick summary of the current state of play. It's good to have some A League cards, but the ratios are terrible, particularly at $4 per pack.

Also no albums at the newsagent, just thought I'd mention that. But at $25 not going to rush!

Cheers
M

Also forgot to mention, the cards are not numbered.

They certainly are making it hard for collectors! :(

Here is the list from our box break of 26 packs, with 10 cards per pack. Share my pain!

Apologies if there are any typos with names on the list.

No Barisha for Melb Victory which was a surprise- but then again maybe there is, who knows!

Can only hope that the cricket cards later this year are a lot better.

Nope :(

And certainly didn't see any special reference to the categories that Matt26 indicated in an earlier posting - International Legends, Australian Players, Superstars.

Maybe they are part of the set, but certainly nothing in the box that my son and I opened.

I have sent an email to the company via their 'contact us' on their website expressing my disappointment.

Probably a great gimmick pack of cards to hand out to kids, bit like the teamcoach cards designed for AFL Auskickers, but for collectors nothing really in it.

But like the saying goes....it is what it is! Life goes on...just glad we got a few Glory cards, if we didn't then I might not be so philosophical :)

I found the card stock was flimsy - really thin - and the cards cut slightly longer and wider than standard cards. The fonts were terrible, no card numbering. The stats/game stats weren't explained either. The pics and colours were great though; very glossy. Interested to see the cricket set but this a-league set is sub Powerplay IMO.

Just to update, Neil from TapnPlay has respond to my email this morning.

He was appreciative of the feedback and apologetic, and has kindly offers to provide some complimentary cards. Great customer service :) :)

He indicated that they are learning quickly and are in this for the long haul and eliminating errors are product issues is a key focus. The double up issue with their manufacturers only became evident last week, and they are working through these collation issues with them to ensure a more 'bullet proof' approach.

As per some of the earlier postings, he advised there was a rush to get the product on the shelf pre-season, which meant a very short window for design and manufacture.

Neil advised that trader rations and specialist products will be released in the coming months, and they are aiming to bring innovation and some new ideas to the trading card market. But it may take a few months to sort the 2nd series release out.

Full credit to Neil for making contact so promptly. No doubt this release is going to have its problems, but they are clearly committed to make this and their future releases work.

My own thoughts on this are that if we want a yearly release of Australian football & A-League cards we need to get behind this supplier and make this release work.

In hindsight my earlier postings may not have helped in that regard, and sometimes you need to look beyond your own personal self interests or frustrations.
