I would go via ebay prices, book value doesn't mean much these days.

I woudl say ebay in conjunction with beckett especially if you are new to or returning to the hobby. ebay is great but you have to look around and do your research as there's always wildly inflated prices on listings and buy in now or best offer stuff where the BIN is way over what they expect they are just trying to not get lowballed or get more than what they were hoping by listing BIN higher.
