Boston Celtics guard and former Crane High School star Tony Allen was arrested Wednesday and was expected to spend the night in jail while prosecutors considered criminal charges against him, the Chicago Sun-Times has learned.
The charges — stemming from a West Loop brawl this past summer — could come down as soon as today.
Allen’s attorney, Michael Zaslavsky, brought Allen, 23, into Area 4 Police Headquarters to answer questions relating to a shooting and brawl that occurred in the early morning hours of Aug. 28 at the White Palace Grill in the West Loop.
Allen isn’t considered a suspect in the shooting of Marktwain Johnson, 29, who was wounded in the left arm and left side. But Johnson and Nigel Odum, 24, have filed a civil lawsuit against Allen. Odum claims Allen punched him and fractured his left eye socket just before another man who was part of Allen’s group opened fire on Johnson.
“[Allen] came in with his attorney, and he is under arrest pending charges,†said a law enforcement source.
