There’s an old saying that goes a little something like “all that glitters is not gold.” It’s not true — at least not as it relates to the gallery you’re about to lay eyes on. Everything you see glittering below absolutely is gold, or at least emanates from the decadent 2012-13 Gold Standard Basketball, which arrives in hobby shops everywhere next week.
And we’re not talking fool’s gold here. We’re talking full-on, unadulterated drool’s gold; the kind of cards that will leave you dabbing your chin with one hand and clicking your computer mouse for the next image with the other. Indeed, the third installment of Panini America’s Gold Standard Basketball brand looks to be a tour de force kind of development that includes one-per-box Metal cards and a resplendent selection of autographs, memorabilia cards, striking aesthetics and, yes, even authentic pieces of gold.
The following gallery details just some of the hits that surfaced during the 2012-13 Gold Standard Basketball Quality Control process earlier this week, 111 images worth of “wow” that should sufficiently whet your appetite until your able to get your hands on the product beginning next Wednesday.
