Does anyone else smell trouble in this Zach Randolph for Quentin Richardson trade?

For the Clippers it's good because Randolph is a selfish one-dimensional player, it sures up Blake Griffin as the starting PF to lineup with their impressive and talented core of Eric Gordon and Al Thornton.

For Memphis?

Randolph is undisciplined, has poor leadership skills and hogs the ball. Surely this can't be good for guys like OJ Mayo and Rudy Gay who have been questioned in the past for being showy, overrated etc?

A nice little triumvirate of Randolph/Gasol/Thabeet is nice but I wonder how things will be in the locker room!

What do others think.. Randolph just smells of trouble..

The Clippers have agreed to trade power forward Zach Randolph to the Grizzlies in exchange for Quentin Richardson, according to the Los Angeles Times.

The move allows L.A. to clear space for No. 1 draft pick Blake Griffin while unloading Randolph's contract, which pays $33.3 million over the next two seasons. Richardson's deal expires next summer, giving the Clippers financial flexibility to pursue 2010's bumper crop of free agents. The deal won't be official until July 8th. Jul. 1 - 8:37 pm et

what are you talking about terry???

lol - hope he's getting better so the old man can get some sleep :) nice effort with the SMP! I'll look into this weekend

Good move if griffin is as good as he is hyped. Good to give him free leg room, and good financially long term. If they play decent next season and show promise, then add talent from the 2010 free agent list - Clippers could be a great team. They're well under the cap, so it could be anyone - minus a few who we know are staying put. Note the many 'coulds'.

Hmmm interesting move. If Randolph can get over himself, the Grizzlies suddenly have a dominating inside scorer to take the heat off Mayo, Gay and others outside. But only if he gets over himself...

As for Clips, they get a role playing bench man and clear room for Griffin, nice :)

not a bad trade for both really...

- zach, while he's trouble off court, is a very productive low post player which the griz sorely lack... might give em a good year or two before they shope the balance of his contract or wait for it to expire AND keep developing marc gasol and thabeet... he only becomes valueable if he keeps his nose clean

- clips get back Q who had some of his most productive seasons in clipperland... quality rebounder at his position and obviously opens the floor with his 3 pt shooting
