Media converters - whats best?

Hey fellas im trying to find a media converter that can convert MPG4 video files to mpg3 or any other file youtube can use. I tried just uploading it straight to youtube but the audio and video were out of sync. Now after trying to convert the video through realplayer and seeing it was going to take 15 hours I figured I'd see if anyone knows a better option that wont take a day

Do files normally take 10+ hours to convert? I find it a bit ridiculous it would take that long.

I use Handbrake

So far its taken anything I've thrown at it (mainly the m2ts format used by my Sony Handycam) and converted it fine.

It has a bunch of presets for Apple products, but you can create your own, so I made one for youtube.

Works pretty speedily too.

FormatFactory as it has a nice gui lol.

About 1hour for 20mins (if doing two pass).

If you want to go hardcore get VirtualDub Mod + avs scripts.
