Hall of Fame 06

The Hall of Fame ceremony was yesterday and as you know Barkley, Dumars and Wilkins were some of the guys inducted. I was reading one of the recaps on HoopsHype and it said that 'Nique has a newborn son. Pretty cool.

Can someone tell me again whats the criteria for entry into the HOF? And does anybody know who might be nominated for getting in there next year.

newborn son? he'd have to be well into his 40s wouldnt he?!

Dunno about Criteria, or being nominated, etc.

But I've been waiting for Chuck to get it. Sure there's plenty of dudes that should have gotten in before him.

This'll bring on the flames tho, what has Nique done to deserve to get in? Won a couple of dunk comps??????????????????????????? PFFFT!!!!!!

It takes them quite a few years to get nominated doesn't it? At least 5 after retirement or something. Good on Charles, one of the greatest players and personalities ever. Good job with Wilkins, one of the greatest dunkers, competitors and scorers ever and good job to Joe Dumars, a pure legendary winner.

I know a lot of people I know arn't happy that MJ still isn't there.

I dunno what the list has already, but I think the Admiral and The Dream should be pretty prepped to appear on the list!!!!

Still don't know how/why Nique got on there....

agreed bout admiral and dream. what about patrick ewing too? clyde the glide, is he in there yet? some of those stars from the 90's definately deserve to get in, reggie miller, mitch richmond (probably not though), the stockton and malone haha.

I agree that Nique was good, he made big changes in Atlanta Franchise.

I don't think he is still 100% HOFer YET... There's plenty more that should get in before him.

Perhaps a player has to get X amount of nominations, or acheive certain feat's or something?

Because the Hall – in contrast to the Pro Football Hall of Fame and the Baseball Hall of Fame – honors not only American professionals but also international professionals and American and international amateurs, it employs four screening committees to identify prospective nominees: one each for American candidates, female candidates, international candidates, and veterans candidates (players, coaches, or referees who have been retired at least 35 years prior to their being nominated).

Individuals who receive at least five votes from a seven-member screening committee in a given year advance to an Honors Committee, composed of 12 members who vote on each candidate and rotating groups of 12 specialists (one group for female candidates, one group for international candidates, and one group for American and veterans candidates); any individual receiving at least 18 affirmative votes (75 per cent of all votes cast) from the Honors Committee is approved for induction into the Hall of Fame. Advancement to the Honors Committee is generally pro format, although the Hall's Board of Trustees may remove any candidate who "has damaged the integrity of the game of basketball" [1] from consideration.

Hey Jimbo, I'm pretty much 100% sure Drexler was inducted last year.

thats why MJ hasnt been inducted yet...he hasnt been retired for 5 years, because he keeps coming back!
